We just stayed for an evening. It was a nice and clean hostel. And they allowed for payment with my Visa card which is always a plus. They could have better pillows . . . That is our biggest complaint. Otherwise, the wifi was fast, and the room was a welcome respite from our tiresome traveling.

Only stayed there for a night so can't say much but the situation is definitely great, next to the train station / bus terminal and the city center. Dorm, bathroom, kitchen, public area were good! It turned out you can bring your own bed sheets in case anyone wants to save those 2,50 € to lend theirs. Everything was okay!

Pro:The warm and homey atmosphere, very-friendly staff, and welcoming common areas on ground floor. The dorm room (6 bed for me) was clean and the mattress average/acceptable. Con: No in-room lockers big enough for packs and the gang-style, single-sex showers were OK but needed a cleaning (my floor's WC/shower was not cleaned for the 48 hrs I was there - prob for longer). The location was good but for the trains crossing in front - they kept me awake, but I'm a light sleeper - just be aware.

Very nice hostel, extremely central, clean and cozy, frindly and helpful staff. Some people wrote that it is loud: yes there is a tram - but in the middle of the city one should not expect silence...i recommend.

+ Good value for the money. Everything was O.K. for one-night's crash out. Centrally located, clean, nice guest kitchen, a spacious room. Hot showers with good pressure. - In the 10-bed room, there were sockets only by the door. Bedside lights would also help in such a big room: at night everybody who comes or goes switches on/off the main light. No shelves, very few chairs: mostly, you have to put your stuff on the floor.

Too loud, next time only without a fair.

My concerns are about the security and noise: -Anyone could enter the hostel and tell that would pick the lugagge up, without being asked for ID or anything else. -Excellent location, the only problem is the noise of the Strassenbahnen.

Good location, staffs and facilities

The Globertrotter was great...the location was excellent and even though the room faced the street any noise from streetcars was not a problem. The kitchen was very good...clean and well organized. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The entire buzz around Leipzig is very attractive...it´s a great place to visit.

Leipzig was a great city! This hostel was close to the main train station but a bit out of the city centre. Clean facilities and helpful staff. Some downsides: no lockers in the rooms and the showers were not a pleasant experience. But pretty good hostel overall.

thank you very much for your sad feedback. our breakfast is optional - and for 3.90 euro an all-you-can-eat incl tea/coffee/juice might be overpriced in your home country - in leipzig you would get 2 cups of coffee for that price somewhere in the city. to rate our security, facilities and atmosphere so bad because of breakfast is very sad to see.

The location is very convenient -- or should I say Leipzig is really small so everywhere is within walking distance? One reservation I have, though, is the showers and lights. Each time you push the button (yes you have to push the button for shower, too!) the shower/light only turns on for very (VERY) short period of time. Also, shower cells were only divided by thin, semi-transparent plastic (?) curtains, and no shielded place for changing. It would be quite awkward to have others around.

Good facilities in the large common area but seriously communal showers?? Is this school camp? It's even worse than other reviewers are saying because there was no door even to the group of 3 showers and it's all next to the sink / toilet area. In other respects the Hostel has all that you'd expect, definitely geared towards groups, staff were always helpful.

The hostel is pretty conveniently located, i.e., in walking distance of the city centre. The staff was really nice and always there if you had a question. The room and bed was really clean. You can either get breakfast there or bring your own stuff to eat it in their nice breakfast room! Never had that before. The only thing I did not like were the showers which automatically turned off after 30 sec. After not pressing the button for a minute it would turn ice cold... -.- Worst showering ever.

It is a little crowdy with 4 beds in a room. Male urinal in the restroom is too high for average people.

Owner Comment (Hide)
Dear Guest - thank you very much for your comment. We are very sorry - but if you book a 4-bedroom, chances are high that there are 4 beds in the room - and there might even be 4 people?!? Since 11 years all our male guests were able to use the urinal - but of course they are not the "average"..We wish you happy travels: with no other guests in a dorm and urinals a bit lower than the average ;))

Very close to the main station, located ten minutes' walk from city center of Leipzig; breakfast cost 3 euro but it was a buffet so that wasn't too bad, especially for Leipzig; one thing about showers is that they are VERY green about energy and hydro, so the stalls shut off after a minute or so of running water; you'll have to push the knob again for the shower to run. Oh, and there weren't any curtains in the stalls so I had to either time myself to use the men's showers or avoid women.
