Meant only to stay 4 days but stayed 10, this was not only due to loving Cahuita but also enjoying staying in my lovely room with the sound of the howler monkeys in the morning. Peace and tranquillity surrounded in vegetation, a hammock, sleeping to the sound of the waves and awesome banana pancakes in the morning. I loved this place and could have stayed for months. Had a fabulous day on a tour with Brigitte to the Bri Bri village to learn about chocolate and a fun time at the Waterfall.
This place is pretty small: a few simple, but quite adequate cabins in a piece of a tropical forest/garden within 50 meters from Cahuita's Playa Negra (a decent beach, but not spectacular). The multilingual owner and staff were very frriendly and helpful, as well as knowledgeable about the area. There was even hot water in the shower ("electric shower") - something fairly rare in the tropics. The nights were very quiet - something we enjoyed a lot after spending over a week in noisy cities.
Nice hostel about a fifteen minute walk from the centre of Cahuita. You have a full cabin to yourself which was nice with a good double bed and ensuite. Porch area was nice in the evenings to sit out in if you are comfortable with the insects that the light will attract! We saw a sloth on a tree just outside the entrance too when we stayed! Only downside was that staff were not around all the time and the area was very quiet.
I would really recommend to stay at Brigitte's: the cabines are lovely (and relaxed with hammocks), breakfast is really good and Brigitte helps with everything you need! She's a great host. The cabines are on the corner of the beautiful beach of Cahuita!
This place is just great. You get a lot for your money. We stayed in one of the private "cottages". They have a small kitchen area, private bathroom and two double beds in two different rooms. Mosquito nets are for free and you have a very nice private outside terrace. The staff is very nice and has insider tipps for free :P Lots of homegrown food (pick your own bananas for free =) =)) and lots of animals around you. So nice. I really enjoyed it in Cahuita at Brigittes.
Brigitte is really helpful & organized an amazing snorkeling trip for us. The hostel is in an incredible location - a bit of a walk from town, but super close to the beach. We'd love to come back and rent bikes. This was our favorite stop on our way through Costa Rica!
The cabinas are just near Playa Negra and 15 minutes walk to Cahuita Village. We had a very nice stay at Brigitte's. Very friendly staff, no complication. The banana pancakes are just marvellous.

Great place to relax at. Very friendly and quite. Reggae bar right next door :)
Brigitte and uschi are very friendly and very very very helpfull. nice place to be! we booked a tour with jose at Rio estrella, but didn't get what we expected.
The hostel had made a double-booking and we had to stay in Brigitte's friend's cabins, about 50m further back from the beach. We found it dark and lacked any atmosphere. It was really just a place to sleep when not out on the beach. We can't give Brigitte's place a proper review, but her breakfasts are very nice.
