This is a really great place to stay that's surrounded by nature. We loved it so much we extended our stay for another night. Really friendly staff, they'll help you get anywhere you need, book transport, tours, etc... Plus the $5 home-cooked breakfast is phenomenal!

I absolutely loved Cerro Chato Ecolodge. It had the right amount of privacy, as well as an exposure to the rainforest atmosphere. Maria's breakfast in the morning was so delicious, and a great way to experience an authentic Costa Rican meal. Even more so, it's only a short distance away from La Fortuna's waterfall. Although it wasn't in the center of town, the public bus was only a short ride, as well as economical.

Very clean and cute casitas to stay in! Maria took very good care of us and made us breakfast every morning for $5. She was very accomodating and met all of our needs. No communal kitchen. One of the staff memebers told us the cerro chato hike was closed and that "it's absolutely impossible to hike" .... not true. It's open everyday. Take what you hear with a grain of salt at this place. We hiked it and had a blast. Not in town- have to take a taxi for food and shops. The lodge is remote

Miguel and Maria were the best hosts you could have. Very knowledgeable about the area and always going out of their way to make you feel welcome. The rooms and grounds were exceptionally clean and the environment around the lodges was very picturesque and well maintained. Breakfast was amazing every morning for $5 a person. Walking distance to the town and supermarket and close to all the attractions in the Arenal region. We would definitely stay here again.
