It was a bit hard to find this place. No signs anywhere outside the hostel pointing the location. Staff doesnt speak English, though they are very nice and polite people and try to help ass much as possible.

The man working there is really nice. It is a pretty old building but cheap place to stay with a pretty good bed, very minimalistic. It is pretty far from all attractions, but there are buses coming and going at 10-15 minute intervals. The hostel itself is in a little complex with something like a Chinese medicine shop on the bottom and you walk back through a creepy dark little niche into a dark motorbike garage and then go up to the 6th floor. Minorly disconcerting. All in all it wasn't bad.

No announcement of increasing the price before I arrived the hostel. Instead of this, other things are acceptable.

I read the reviews for this place, and I must say, it put me off.. but I went anyway on a stopover through the High Speed Rail journey and I was really glad that I did. Superb WIFI, room to myself, very comfortable and silent after 9pm. It is an apartment with a family so of course, you are in Taiwan, there may be some noise, but it is opposite the free shuttle bus stop back to the HSR station so get the address translated and stay there.

Taichung chaoma Hostel was a great place for me to stay. Location is convenient, near bus stop and bus station and the hostel was very clean. The owner”s sister, Jane, who is so kind , personable and a wealth of information. She directed us to sun moon Lake, Lukan histric area, night marke. Which sightsee wanted to visit , their Rooms were clean

Very hard to find, we had to walk down an unmarked hallway off of the street to a back room stairway, walked up to the 6th floor and found the office - really found it by luck, no one on the street knew about it. It seemed a little dirty in the room, but okay. It did have WiFi in the room and beds were comfortable. I was very dis-satisfied with the place at first, but after a while, I warmed up to the place and it was okay for what we did.

Avoid this place if you can find something else. Very noise. Poor standard. No outside window. No cleaning for 4 days.
