only 3 functioning showers in a hostel with the capacity of 40 people. 2 of the three showers run out of hot water very fast

Thank you for your review. We're glad to tell you we have had a nice new electric shower installed which is great.

Very Old Hostel, like most of the guests ;) Located far away from the center of Fort William it's easy to reach if you have a car but not if you're a Backpacker. Beds are good but old bathrooms with bath and definitely not many enough (you have to get up early to catch one). On the other hand check-out is at 10am so in any case you get up early Also, I can't understand how the wifi can still be charged in 2015... And that commercial offer "Breakfast+Wifi 4.5 pound"....seriously !!!!

Thank you for your review. It is true, our hostel gets older every day, but we are as close to Fort William centre as ever we were. We are sorry you made the wrong choice. Our location near the Caledonian Canal is very nice and the views of Ben Nevis are fantastic. Our wi-fi is FREE...

Nice friendly staff and decent beds/rooms, but the WiFi was extremely unreliable, to the point that it would have been a dealbreaker for me (I'm working remotely). Also a bit far from town and Ben Nevis but still walkable.

We are working hard to improve the wi-fi. Please don't be so unforgiving. In many parts of our beautiful Country, Scotland, broadband is not as good as elsewhere in built-up UK, and as our hostel was built of stone around 1850 the walls are very thick - not so good for wi-fi wherever you may be.

Lovely place, it's a bit far away from the mountains but the view more than made up for it. Wifi was a bit spotty the first night but was fine the next day. Overall a great experience and I would visit again.

Hostel needs to improve their wifi connection. And the thing with sheets can be really annoying - just get normal ones like everyone else guys. Kitchen was great though and overall it can be sleeping point for some travellers before Ben Navis climb (but if you're looking to spend time in Fort William, you can find something closer maybe).

The hostel is in a desperate need of refurbishment and modernisation, as it is its impossible to maintain hygienic environment. The person on staff is very kind and helpful but she is placed in a position of serving customers and cleaning the substantial building by herself, an impossible task. The owner definitely needs to invest in basic upgrades to create easy to clean surfaces and another person on staff or a cleaning crew.

Thank you for your review. We are several staff running and cleaning the hostel, but it was public holiday during your stay and therefore exceptionally busy to clean up after everyone quickly, so we apologise for this. The hostel quality is 3-star equivalent, therefore is not shining new, but it is very well maintained. We now include Wi-fi in the price.

The staff was very friendly and helpful and the location is perfect! You can see Ben Nevis from the hostel and the famous Neptune's staircase is just around the corner as is the rail station Banavie, from where you can get everywhere else, e.g. Fort William, Glenfinnan.. We didn't like that they don't change the bed linen and you only get a white sheet to cover the linen. If the hostel is busy there is no warm water. Altogether it is a nice hostel though!

Thank you for your review. We were exceptionally during your stay as it was a public holiday, but we do assure you our bedsheets are washed after each use. Some duvet covers and bottom sheets are green coloured and have bleach marks, but are clean. We are very conscious of preserving our Environment and we don't want to replace them with new just for discolouration. We hope this reassures our guests.

The bathrooms would need a refurbishment. Rooms are ok, staff friendly and helpful. All extras are charges extra like internet. Not in Fort William centre

Thank you kindly for your review. Our bathrooms are not pristine new, as we are of the view to preserve our natural environment rather than needlessly upgrade perfectly usable facilities. We do however maintain them in very good condition. We have added FREE wi-fi to our service. Thank you.

My stay at Chase The Wild Goose Hostel was fantastic! I was backpacking around the UK, and wanted to see some of the highlands. This hostel was everything I needed! It showed up in the search results for Fort William, but is actually in a town called Banavie about a 15 minute bus ride away. I was traveling by rail and there is a train station right in Banavie a short walk away from the hostel. The staff were extremely friendly and helped with some recommendations of things to do in the area.

The place was great...it is an older house/hotel refitted as a youth hostel (shows its age) though in great condition, couple of brand new bathrooms...the beds were very comfortable and clean/comfortable sheets...wifi and breakfast not free (should be for the price)...incredible staff!! Location is perfect for hikers and climbers with Ben Nevis and the Cadelonia Canal (Neptunes Staircase) right across the street...
