Che Lagarto Ipanema was an awesome hostel to stay in. The rooms were cleaned everyday & the bed was comfy. The staff are very super friendly & extremely helpful with booking tours & giving tips on things to do. Each night there was always abit of a party too! highly recommended :) & Ricardo is the man!!!

great hostel.. great atmosphere, the breakfast was good but not great.. the loctation is very good if you want to stay in ipanema.. nice staff, the manager is a very friendly guy.. i had a really nice time there.. thank you

Great location, small kitchen and very hot, friendly staff (Rickie is the man!!) Good place to meet people if you travel by yourself. The 35brs deal for Caipis are really good, thanks Cesar. Most deft go back when im in Rio.

Noisy beds, who ever invented metal lockers and beds!!! Bathroom could of been cleaner, wifi ok and you could sometimes pick it up in to rooms. However the staff were exceptional... We had a smelly, noisy guy in our dorm and they didn't hesitate when we asked if it would be possible to move... They moved us to a lovely little dorm over the road and it was bliss! They helped us with everything we needed, and were so polite! Che Largarto you should be proud, of your Ipenema staff!!!

everything was very great. I would just recommend to offer toals.

In general I didn't like the atmosphere in the common room (except the terrace area and the street itself) and the fact that the reception is just next to the bar made it very crowded and loud around the staff people. Also the few sharing toilets on first floor were small and smelly.

The hostel should accept cards for everyithing ( bar, tours, ...) and the ligth adaptors need to be exactly one type in orden to work.

The location is great, just one block from Ipanema (and a few meters more to Leblon) beach. However this is a big hostel and sadly doesn't feel like one of those place which are truly made with love. My dorm room was in a building across the street from the main place with ugly dirty walls, steel-frame bunks with unfitting mattress and dirty shower. Staff is friendly and helpful with advice and knows all the bus numbers to get anywhere! Great breakfast!

I Spent a wonderful week at Che Lagarto Ipanema. Its staff is by far the most friendly and effective I have ever seen. Everything you need from a single tip to some problems with bookings and all they will help you out. Everyday there is something going on such as happy hours, parties and so on. Awesome atmosphere though. The hostel is one block from the beach, breakfast also includes fresh fruit and the kitchen is good as well. All in all the hostel is great. Highly recommend. Geraldo, Brazil.

Small kitchen. They don't offer towels. Dorm rooms are over priced. In our dorm, the power points had leakage stains on the walls. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. You are basically paying for the service, which is great.

Very good breakfast, very caring staff and a beautiful breakfast area/lounge. The rooms are clean and big enough for the number of people sleeping in there. No additional equipment like pool, billard, books etc. Too expensive in my opinion.

It's a good Hostel. Great location. 1.5 block from the Ipanema beach and very near Copacabana (by bike, bus, taxi, etc). At relative wkg distance to the subway (~ 15 minutes) and in a apparently very safe area from Rio. Cleanliness is also a strong point. It's very tidy (specially for hostel's standards). It seems a bit expensive for what it offers, though. The two upper levels are not that convenient, as the elevator only reaches to the 4th floor (not at 5th and 6th). Kitchen closes at 9pm.

Great! The staff is really good.

Very close to ipanema beach, however the a bit of a walk to the metro and was quite expensive getting to and from nights out in lapa.

Che Lagarto tried with its location in Ipanema. After being in Brazil for 3 weeks prior to arriving in Rio I expected Rio to be the highlight, instead it was my lowlight. The Ipanema location seemed to focus a little to much on being 'the cool' hostel and the people in my room seemed unfriendly compared to my stays at other hostel.

I had a great time staying at Che Lagarto in Ipanema. The location is literally one block from some of the beaches in Rio and the neighborhood is a lot more upscale and enjoyable than Copacabana. The hotel staff were super fun, helpful and very accomodating. It was obvious they wanted everyone staying there to have a great time, whether it be suggesting great tours of the favelas or parties in the lobby or whatever. I would highly recommend staying here and can´t wait to come back myself.
