the hostel is very nice, the staff are all very friendly and nice and the place was very clean. the breakfast was nice, plenty of fruits, cereals, cakes and rolls. The location is close to the bus terminal, otherwise it is not too close to anything. there are buses to the beach or the old part of town or you can always walk, it is not that close but it is not that far either.

We had the best time at Che Lagarto Montevideo! The staff was really helpful, explained us how to get around, and warned us about the holidays (what was going to stay open, what should we visit before what time...) They also asked us about our experience, and were always happy to help... The private room is big, practical and very clean (and not expensive at all)! But also the other rooms are very clean and organized, people were very respectful, friendly... I could go on with more compliments!

Closest hostel to the main bus terminal Tres Cruces. Big bonus points on that if you're just stopping through Montevideo. It's a lengthy stroll to the old part of the city, but not difficult. Staff were all perfectly nice, if a bit disinterested/apathetic. Bathrooms were decent but could have used a cleaning. All accounted for, the rooftop terrace was a great place to watch the sunset over Montevideo and they did allow outside alcohol (thumbs up on that). Perfectly decent place for a night.

I was very thankful to have only booked this hostel for two nights. It was located in a rough around the edges neighbourhood and I didn't feel safe walking alone. It was clean inside but the bathrooms were quite dirty. Unfortunately my roommates came home at 4am each night so my sleep was very interrupted. Breakfast was great and the staff was pleasant. I wouldn't recommend it but it wasn't terrible if you are only passing by.

Very friendly staff. Location is close to the bus terminal but far from the city (you can take a bus for 23 pesos though!). Nice breakfast. We stayed in the private room which turned out to be a little apartment with a tiny "kitchen" room with microwave, sink, two plates/forks/glasses. Cleanliness is good.

A nice hostel, not the cheapest you can find but then Uruguay is generally a bit more expensive. Good location close to the bus terminal and within walking distance of most attractions in Montevideo. Rooftop terrace is nice, and breakfast isn't bad if a little limited. Only complaints - wifi signal can be a little iffy, the kitchen is tiny so very difficult to cook for yourself, and when I was there the bar wasn't stocked which was a bit of a pain if just wanted a quick drink. Still great though
