The atmosphere wasn't too lively but in all fairness it wasn't peak season. The staff also weren't 're most friendly of all the hostels we've been to, but the facilities were good and the hostel organises some good tours and trips.

Stayed here for two nights. Bedrooms were dark and a little dated, the shared bathroom was also dirty and the lid for the toilet bin didn't work so had to touch it each time you used it. Wifi was poor here but think that's an issue everywhere. Really friendly staff particularly the Argentinian couple and they organised some great tours also. Would stay again.

Solid option for Paraty. It's located close to the historic center. There's a nice covered outdoor common area with hammocks as well as an indoor TV room with computers too. I didn't find the staff to be that helpful with recommending things to do and places to eat, but they were friendly and the bartender was great. Also, the wifi didn't work in my room, which was kind of inconvenient.

The hostel was nice, particularly the outside areas. However the toilet in our dorm often stopped working and the staff did nothing about it when asked.

Great atmosphere at night and good location for beach and local town. Staff really helpful. Breakfasts were best we have had in South America

We had an amazing time in Paraty, and this hostel was a big part of that. Booked 3 nights, ended up staying for a whole week. We had a private room and it was lovely and clean, and really cheap too. The staff were all fantastic with us, particularly Mauro who was full of information about the area and helped us out with any requests and queries we had for him. Che Lagarto is a chain of hostels we'll look to stay again across South America!

I really loved Paraty and Che lagarto was the perfect base to discover it! Clean, comfortable rooms, nice people and atmosphere. Big thanks to the staff who is amazing and does a great job, especially GABRIELLA and JULI who have always been dedicated, efficient and smiling during my whole stay

Excellent hostel! Near the hostel, old centre and the bus station. A lot of chilling places with several places to sit, lay down or hang in a hammock. Also really nice that they have a pool table and table soccer. The staff was really helpful all the time. A special thanks to Mauro who gave me several tips for different locations on adventurous things to do, which I would not have known otherwise. Would come here again. Only negative point: The wifi reached the whole area, but was not strong

Great staff and excellent social hostel with lots of outdoor space. Good breakfast. Clean. Good location (but doesn't really matter in Paraty). Wifi not the best. Lovely family run Mexican restaurant opposite :-)

Would've been 5 stars if I hadn't seen the size of the room next to mine for the same price. Mine was tiny. Social areas are great, very friendly. The hostel organises tours and cheap dinners. Breakfast is great, especially the selection of fruit. Bar is lively till midnight then people are encouraged to go elsewhere, on some nights shown to places by staff. Really knowledgable staff. Great place to stay and in a fantastic location!

Friendly staff and good location (as it's a small place!) but the windows didn't lock properly so didn't feel super safe. It's a big chain hostel, very backpacker oriented.

Good location good social areas and facilities with friendly helpful staff. They also put on food every night if you didn't want to go out. Only downside is the showers aren't the most powerful or the warmest and questionable stains on the sheet/bed divan but it's a hostel after all! Oh and a random cleaner tried to come into or room in the middle of the night whilst we were sleeping which was very strange...
