Could be a decent place but my stay was terrible. I woke up at 3am in a bed crawling with bed bugs. Days later my skin is covered with over one hundred itchy bites. Spent the rest of the night sleeping in the lobby but it was too late. I refused to pay, but spent more than the cost of the bed to have all my belongings cleaned. Other guests in the hostel speculated that the managment was aware of the infestation in the dorm room and continued to rent beds anyway. If so, that´s way uncool...

Seriously one of the poorest hostels I've been so far to. Price is way too high for what you get. And they have a very strange exchange rate. Saying that it would be 20 dollars per night and then taking a 10% higher exchange rate if you wanted to pay in Chilenian pesos. Weren't able to handle the high season, so many people had to sleep on a couch. On top of that, people in other rooms had serious bites of bedlice. John counted 163 bites. Rooms have poor character. And theft was reported.

It was a huge disapointment. The staff was kind of rude, the location is kind of far, and it was not very clean.

The review in the lonely planet guide hits the nail on the head. Its quite sterile and although there is a reasonable effort by staff to arrange outings it lacks a collective unity between guests. Cold showers every day in the 4 bed dorm. The hostel is in Vina del Mar rather than Valpo, although its about a 10 minute walk to an excellent metro system that has you there in about 10 minutes

A very friendly and honest staff, big rooms, lots of excelent and services and dinners provided. Although it is very near the subway station and the beach, the hostel is located on a hill. It may be better to take a taxi if you are carrying too much weight.

The bathroom in my room was so gross. It was always wet all over the floor, and although the maid came everyday and changed the sheets, it doesn't seem as if the bathroom was cleaned, at least not the sink or shower. And the shower was always cold! To have a hot shower I figured out that running the water in the sink at the same time helped, but what a waste of water. I do have to say that the employees were very nice however, and very helpful! But, a dirty bathroom really sucks.

Lively hostel and helpful staff. Good breakfast and rooms are clean. Showers quickly vary from giving you scolding to cold water depending on whether someone near by turns on a tap or flushes a toilet.

The hostel is in a good location but it needs some renovation. I was in the doom next to the reception and the bathroom / shower was in a very bad condition. And I also read in the comments that there was a problem with bed bugs and met another girl that told that she actually got some during her stay in Che Lagarto. Luckily I had no problem.

The people who worked at the hostel were really nice, but it would take a long time to get you one person or group of people because they talked so much to everyone in line. Also, the room I stayed in was on the other side of the reception area wall, and the music played there could be heard through the walls until 1am. Not a problem if you go out for a night on the town, but irritating if you're trying to sleep.

We enjoyed our stay - the staff s really nice, eventhouh we stayed on a weekend and the hostel seemed very busy. Rooms and Bathrooms were clean. The only little minus was that the walls seemed a little thin so the nights were a bt noisy - maybe think about selling earplugs ;) Great location - close to the beach and café journal.

Hostel was very Basic, 4 of us stayed in the 12 bedroom dorm and all of us woke up during the night with bite marks all over our face and bodies. We have stayed in many places in south America and this one is by far the worse
