Great hostel at a great location. The staff was very freindly and very helpfull. Kudos to Leonardo and Lolo. It's a great crowd staying at the Che Legarto. Made some great friends in the 3 days I was there. They also offer great food at a very affordable price including a Caipirinha! There is nothing that can beat this! Most people stay to have dinner there before they go with the staff to a samba or fogo party in the old city minutes away.

I had a great time during my stay! I will be back for sure! The people around and the place are great, specially the staff which is very friendly. A very good hostel to stay, even if you’re travelling alone or with a group.

Great atmosphere. Only complaints would be the cleanliness of the shared bathrooms (not much attention by the staff) and the "sales pitch" by the staff for activities.

I think the hostel is a little overrated. The rooms have mouldy walls!!! Loved the character and the staff but the internet doesn´t work properly and they don´t offer enough power points. All in all: As long as you are not in your room this hostel is really great but the rooms are terrible.

Great hostel to relax and unwind. feels like being staying in a resort on a backpacker budget. Bit quiet though if your hoping to meet people and have a few drinks.

We had one major issue with this hostel involving payment, hence the value for money score. If you book online the balance is quoted in US$ and this is what the payment is expected in. Therefore, as we couldn't find an ATM issuing US$, we had to pay in reales meaning we were subjected to their inhouse exchange rate of 2.05 compared to the current XR of 1.8 rate. This meant 40 reales mark-up on the original HB price quoted, which took the shine off what was otherwise a very good hostel.

We had GREAT time in this hostel, because it was well situated, and most of all, the staff is really really nice, very helpful and welcoming, giving us good adresses and spots to see, good advice on activities nearby with a honest opinion (not trying to get us in tourist things or get us with partners they could have etc...) AND the meals in the evening were great, different every night. do go there!!!

Staff were friendly & helpful, atmosphere was fun. Overall great value for the money. Breakfast was decent. We had dinner there one night, which was good and very reasonably priced. It would be nice if the lockers were more convenient. As far as I could tell, there was just one area with lockers, which were small and far from our room. Also, anyone can walk into the hostel but I guess Paraty is pretty safe, so I didn't worry too much. Would also be nice if the wifi reached the rooms upstairs.

This hostel was absolutely disgusting ...do not stay at che legarto if you want to stay somewhere clean. It's only for people who want to drink all the time. This is the worst hostel i ever stayed at. The room was tiny , way too small for 6 beds and there was an awful smell of must in the room. The sheets were old and stained and there wasn't any lockers in the room. People slept rough on the couches at the back of the hostel, there was never any hot water either. DO NOT STAY HERE.

if you have been put off the chain in the past this one seems very different. The staff where more than helpful making calls to help us arrange buses for us that was not through the hostel. Always smiling and always happy to help. Jeep tour was cool too and the burgers looked awesome! Cheers guys

I'm very surprised with this city and this hostel, everything was perfect, very detail oriented and fun. I'd come back here if I were to travel back to Paraty.

Very good and highly recommended hostel. Close to the bus station and just minutes away from the historical centre. Staff is very professional and extremely friendly. Rooms and ensuite bathrooms are clean, although the shower was a bit too hot. Breakfast is above average most hostels, with fresh fruit, juices, cereal, bread, cake, toast, and more. You can have diner at the hostel fr very cheap prices, including free caipirinha. Job very well done! Thank you Che Lagarto Paraty for a lovely stay!!
