Strong factors: excellent location, fun and good environment. Weak points: frozen water and price. I would definitely give a very high grade because has everything I always look for in a hostel, but... Who stays in a hostel definitely is never looking for luxury, but warm/hot water is a must. It is impossible to give a high grade without this so basic facility.

The hostel is located in a beautiful area of Rio, just 1,5 blocks from the nice beach of Ipanema. In general, I dont have any cons, I had an amazing time in Che Lagarto Ipanema and met great people and partied like animals! Anyway, if you want to rest, it is NOT the hostel you are looking for. I´m still recovering from the hangover after 3 days there. If u wanna party and share with new people thats want the same, definitely it is your hostel.

I am really delighted that I chose this hostel for our vocation, it’s very nice and friendly so many people all over the world stay here, it’s nice, cline and cozy, staff is helpful and very kind, breakfasts are so testy and good, daily fresh exotic fruits. The location is comfortable only one minute and you are on the beach on the left and bus stop as well close, the local neighborhood is peasfull and good, there are lots of bars, cafes and restaurants to go out around, I would recommend to stay he

The staff was really nice, if you have a problem they will to the best they can to help you. They all speak very good English. The location was perfect, I didn't feel unsafe walking there at night. The hostel itself has a very good atmosphere and you will definitely meet some cool new people there. I certainly would recommend it to anyone who's planning to go to Rio de Janeiro!

It has everything you would expect from any hostel plus air conditioning in the rooms. The breakfast is very abundant. I have to say that cleaning isn't excellent but it's fair enough. The staff is really cool too.

Terrible value for money -total+utter rip off.Worst in 8 months of travelling.Staff pretty much useless, always queue at reception, you feel like you are on a conveyor belt. Only decent aspect is location to the beach, but even so not much going on around the hostel. Don't do City Tour, guide was awful and again total rip off (R$150), better to do it yourself. So many weird rules (kitchen only open for 3 hours per day,1 room key to share between 10 strangers!+ extra for internet. Do NOT stay here!

I had many problems, I Already been to several Che Lagartos, but that was the worst for sure, cleaning was very bad, the bathroom always dirty or wet, there should be a more frequent cleaning. I saw an underwear and a T-shirt behind the door during the 3 days I was staying. The shower in my room (302) with only cold water. Another problem: Someone already slept in my bed, so I have to ask 4 times to change the sheets. All Che Lagartos that I've been were great, this was a disappointment.

Tons of fun from day until dawn. The place is kind of crowded but everyone's so cool about it that you'll have nothing but a good time.

Hostel is in a great location but its too expensive for what your get, the breakfast is fruits, bread and cereal that's it. Most annoying thing is that they don't take credit cards. On positive side its clean, staff spoke good English and was very helpful

Incredible staff- limitations on using the kitchen were kind of a buzzkill, but I'd definitely recommend! Oh, and I'm glad we're backpacking since the elevator only hits floor 4 and we were on floor 6? Ha.

CHE OF IPANEMA IS "A CLASS ACT." IT WAS MY FOURTH TIME WITH THIS HOSTEL WHICH IS EXTRA ATTENTIVE TO THEIR CLIENTS SUPER BREAKFAST.ONE BLOCK FROM THE BEACH. SURROUNDED BY FASHIONABLE IPANEMA UNIQUE LITTLE SHOPS AND EATERIES. THE STAFF IS RESPOMSIVE TO THE SLIGHTEST COMPLAINT AND THE CUSTODIANS CLEAN THE BATHROOMS MANY TIMES A DAY WHICH ARE RECORDED ON THE BATHROOM DOOR. THEY ORGANIZE TOURS AND TAXIS, AND HAVE A FULL BAR. SMILES AND KINDNESS PERVADE IN THIS HOSTEL. I LOVE THIS PLACE.

35$ for a 10-bed dorm is a bit on the expensive side. Everything else was perfect.

Fun atmosphere, cool fun staff. They have an open bar, free breakfast in the mornings (pretty descent I may add). Location is perfect too, there are people from other hostels hanging out there at night. Pretty cool.

Overall it was a good stay, nothing great about this hostel at all. The staff is very confused about everything. We had problems checking in and out, it took forever. The rooms are okay, ac in the rooms. The location is excellent though, just one block from the beach in a great area of rio.
