Be prepared to pay for everything! Watch out for the Sabbath check in times as well. They will find any reason to ask for more money. Not an organized check in system. Staff is very hot-or-miss, sometimes they are nice and others they just don\'t care.

Hello Abraham we were quite astonished that you didn't like our location and gave a (3) for location. we are super well located in the heart of the white city. normally 99% of our guests give us (5)for location. as for late arrival fees beyond 21.00 and after shabbat, these conditions are mentioned on our webside and are pointed out in our booking confirmation. since it bothers you you should have chosen another hostel. we find quite unfair that you complain and go public with an information you knew about and which is transparent to anyone. we didn't quite understand your complaint about the staff. anyhow thank you for havin benn our guest.

Central location but rather poor facilities and atmosphere. Tel Aviv is really not a place for good hostels in general.

As I stepped in, I’ve immediately felt at home, the place is nothing like usual hostels but more like a warm home with a pleasant leaving room in the middle and a great yard where interaction is happening, The place is not too fancy but has lot of charm and is well maintained , Roy the owner is always there to guide, advise, barbeque and joke, in any language you want

The first night we booked a 5bed-female-dorm. But when we got to the dorm, there were 10 beds. But only 4 girls stayed in that room, so it was ok. For the other nights we had an excellent 2bed-room in the 2nd floor. It was very calm and nice there. I would definetely stay there again!

A lovely hotel in the heart of Tel-Aviv. The dorms are pretty nice but the kitchen and the outside chill area is even better. Not to forget the hostel has a great atmosphere being part of a casual building and a lot of travelers staying there. Hot water seemed to be a rare resource but I was told that they're working on it, which I believe.

dear philip as you understood right , we were in the middle of work for the two new showers and toilets in the 14 bed dorm. we already connected these showers to our 24h hot water gas heating system , the day you were here we still had it working on the limited electric back up system- so all is good- we keep our high standards for the guest always

Chef hostel is everything you could ask for in a hostel: reasonably priced, clean, inviting, centrally located, knowledgable/accomodating staff, and a comfortable bed on top of it all. Highest recommendation. Thanks for everything guys, I'll be back soon. Cheers!

One of the few real hostels I found in the Middle East- was a great place to meet other travellers... There were some renovations happening while I was there, which means extra bathrooms for the 14 bed dorm :) Perfect location for all the markets, beach & was also surrounded by cool little cafes... Loved the common areas including a great lounge out the back, plus the free wi-fi was handy too... A big hello to Roy and the team (and Shushu!!) from Rish x

Dearest Rish i am Esther, roy's mom, i write you in the name of Roy as he took off for a vacation in Barcelona, thank you so much for your great rating and for your kind words, i am happy to tell you that the renovations works have reached their end, we have added 2 bathrooms for the 14 beds dorm and one private bathroom to go with the double room which has passed to the apartment with private accommodations. we are waiting now for a small pool to come which is going to be installed in the patio. if and when you come back next time you will enjoy plenty of improvements. i thank you once more for such a wonderful review. all the best chefhostel family sends you her kind regards roy/felix/esther/moshe/chou-chou

When I come to Tel Aviv, I can only imagine staying at the Chef. It's by far the best hostel I've been to. It's clean, comfortable and the people are great. I'll be back soon!

Good hostel right on Montefiore street. A bit hard to find since there is nothing identifying it as a hostel on the streets. But very clean, great people coming through, and a good staff. One of the cheapest places in the area, and I would definitely stay there again.

Owner Comment (Show)
Hi Brendan thank you for your rating and for your kind words, we don't have a sign outside in order to preserve the homy and family atmosphere, preventing strangers from coming in and using our facilities, . the whole building has been painted recently in a sparkling pink, it is the only pink building in the whole street, it can't be missed. the hostel is going through a lot of improvements to make the guests stay as enjoyable as possible, adding bathroom andtoilet in the upper 14 bed dorm as well as a small pool in order to freshen up in summer.
