I chose this hostel because it is close to the mega(coach) bus drop off station(Toronto-NYC). The wifi was not working for the first two days. I stayed in a single room with shared bathroom, paid $70/night. The room is bigger than I expect. I doubt they will wash the blanket. The bathroom is really small. Another problem is the stairs are narrow, if you have heavy luggages, this place may not a good choice. I need pay for the locker before check in and after check out. ($3-5 per 24 hrs).

Could you change blankets to quilts, since it is cold at night.

This is a small inn rather than a hostel I should say. Still, the value for the money is good since you get an individual bed rather than a noisy and screechy bunkbed. Its next to a low transited street which means there is almost no noise outside and you can sleep quite and peacfully. However, even though the hostel claims to be a good place to meet friends, it ain't like that since the common area is very big and away from the rooms. The location is one of the best.

Unhelpful staff, terrible breakfast, not good value for money at all. Private room is incredibly basic although it is clean. Only a great location in Chelsea made it ok.

Nothing about this hostel is especially noteworthy. It's a big hostel with a lot of beds and its decently clean. There is a police department right across the street, which gives the (perhaps false) impression that it is safe. Common areas include a few tables and chairs and an outdoor patio. They have wifi in the common area only and it was not working at the time of my stay. If you plan on being out most of the time (which you should be--NYC is amazing) then it's perfectly fine.

Clean hostel, well-secured at night, nice free breakfast in the morning, very quiet, free wi-fi in the common room only. A group of us stayed in a 4-person dorm. We had our own bathroom with a shower, which had plenty of hot water and was clean. The beds were kinda old and we could have used more blankets, but overall it served it's purpose. The hostel is in a good area and close to the subway, which was a plus.

The location is excellent, that's all. The guy who were at the front desk when I arrived were really impolite and rude, so my first impression was terrible. The ladies who work there were nice. The breakfast is not the best one, but is not so bad. The sheets were poor.

We had a private room that opened on to the street. That in itself was fine, but groups (uni or school groups I think) of about 30 people staying at the hostel tended to congregate outside our door at about midnight and talk very loudly for a while, then they'd all trample up the stairs that went directly over our room. It sounded like a herd of elephants. The place was comfortable with a great location, the bagels at breaky were great, but not much else. Better deals elsewhere for just a room

This was my first stay in a hostel and I have no complaints. The location was by far the greatest asset of this place.

The location of the hostel is excellent. I stayed in the 4 bed female dorm with ensuite (single beds so no bunk beds to deal with). The place is clean and provides all the basics of a hostel. BUT the place is in lockdown starting at 10pm and you don't have access to the common room, kitchen and fridge at night which sucks. Security: secure for employees who hide in their office, not so much for guests (multiple entrances accessible with regular keys). Wifi only in common areas - a negative.

Its a good place for the ones that cannot afford an expensive place. The neiborhood is great and you can find cheap places to eat. The only problem is that the Wi-fi do not Work inside The room. And as it is a student hostel the night can be a litlle noisy

two fellows from Argentina were very loud when they came in very late. They also left their stuff laying around the bathroom.

You get what you can expect for the price: 4 walls, a bed, a closet and a sink :) Cheapest in NYC. Good choice for people on a budget.

Bare bones but great value. Clean sheets and a better than average bed. Great location for stuff on the west side.

Very good location, many sights in walking distance. Very modest equippment of the rooms (Single room does not even have a towel rail, no chair, no desk). Too many guests for the small common area, had to eat at the room (no chair!) as it was raining outside. Very lood at night, guests were comeing home (obviously drunk) between midnight and 5 am. Sleeping is only possible during daytime or probably with ear plugs, if you have.
