I stayed there for 2 nights. It's good value for it's cost. Good location, clean, great common rooms for getting to know people if you're travelling alone. The room was simple (and could get a bit loud in the morning), so overall I would say it's an ok place to stay in nyc if you're on a budget.

When I was researching hostels, I read some reviews on the poor service provided by \"mean receptionists\". This couldn\'t be further from the truth. Both receptionists I interacted with were extremely helpful in directing me to the locker room, pointing me to nearby restaurants, helping me check in/out, and making my stay as comfortable as possible. I would highly recommend Chelsea Hostel to travelers. Keep in mind lockers charge $3 to $5 per day and occupancy taxes are almost $10 extra.

Great location, very accessible. They let me rent a locker after I had checked out, so I was able to roam the city without carrying my luggage around, which was wonderful. The shared bathrooms were really small, and there were not towels to rent, which was the only complaint I would give. The breakfast was good, the rooms quiet and clean. and the staff helpful.

Awful! No towels! I wanted to cover myself with a blanket but there was a dirty band-aid sticking on it! SO disgusting. It was really not worth the money we spend!

Staff weren't as friendly as hoped, which made you feel uncomfortable. Rooms were basic and seemed a bit run down. Common area wasn't very welcoming either as it didn't seem to be maintained very well.

Luciano the manager is absolutely AMAZING and should be rewarded. He was not only wonderful to me but I watched how consistent he was with ever guest. I will recommend this hostel mostely because of Luciano. There was an older male named Larry mostly working in the evenings who was not very polite at all. However Luciano made up for Larrys bad service. I was not the only person who complained about Larry. The staff should be trained by Luciano for sure.

I totally recommand that hostel. Clean rooms (we had a room in the backyard area) and the location is great! The breakfast is a little poor but ok. We didn't use the kitchen, it is quite small but nice. The wi-fi is free but only reachable in the kitchen/common room area, and it is slow. The staff was boring as hell, but they were polite. I will defenetly go back there, I mean, where else in the middle of New York can you get such a wonderfull place to sleep for such a low price?

The walls are too thin, as I couldn\'t sleep well at time because of two men outside my door laughing and talking.

Everything quite ok, except for internet: only available in kitchen room which closes at 11:30 PM and even there it only works less than half of the time. Atmosphere a bit to anonymous.

The facilities were warm, clean, and affordable! Breakfast was ample and included in my ~$35 fee. I had a 4 bed room to myself until about 11:00 PM when I got my only roommate for the night. The bathroom was clean the entire building smelled \"clean.\" If there is a better budget hostel in NYC it will surprise me. The only downside is that you have to have a passport to check in. Which, if your think about it carefully, is actually an upside.

CHELSEA INT. HOSTEL was my home in NYC, I was wery lucky with it. much more satisfied than being alone in big city in some expensive isolated hotel room. i will recomend this hostel to everybody, and will take it next time myself

My only comment is that they need a few more toasters for breakfast as the number of people staying is quite a lot. Also it would be terrific if they could add a boiled egg to the breakfast for a little protein each morning. Cheers

love the stay. location very close to train and easy to get to the MET, Guggenhein, and MOMA. staff helpful. there's a yard where you can hang out and smoke. kitchen clean enough. free wifi. there r computers which you can pay to use. slow and sometimes doesnt work though. and there's no way you can get your money back after putting money in but computer not work. free breakfast with bagel, apple, cereal and coffee. room clean. single bed (not bunk bed) in 4 bed female dorm, which is great.

One of the bedsheets had unidentifiable stuff on it when I got in and the walls in the bathrooms were similar. Floors were nice and clean though. They lied about cleaning staff starting at 10 in a response to someone else\'s comment. It was around 8:30. The kitchen facility was pretty nice. Location is great. A walk or short train ride to everything. Front staff was nice, I think it was the actual owner while I was there. A good, cheap way to stay in the city! Bring earplugs just in case of noise.
