This hostel offers great facilities: spacious and comfortable dorms, great wifi and only 5 min walk to the metro! It is really good value for money. Also the staff are friendly and helpful,I really enjoy my stay here!!!
I've stayed at this hostel before and had nice experiences, but this time was a little different. We came in late and we were very tired, and the staff rushed through our check-in without activating our room cards so we had to come back down. In the morning we wanted to leave quickly because we were tired and my friend was sick, but they staff woman kept trying to talk to us and tell us to do a survey, even though we'd told her we wanted to leave. But every other time here was really good.
This is a great hostel! My daughter and I enjoyed the staff and found them very helpful and always ready to go beyond the call of duty, found our twin bedroom clean and comfortable, the food good, and the common area (bar, eating area, pool table and lounge) very nice. Loved the heating pads on the beds, hot pot party, and organized tours to Panda Reserve and Sichuan Opera. I recommend it highly and would return to it in a heartbeat.
Very happy to have stayed at Flipflip Hostel. - Advantages to staying there: facilities, in-house restaurant gave lots of choices of food at any hour; staff, especially maids and Sherry who provides tour information were awesome; and finally the location was conveniently located next to the pedestrian area in downtown Chengdu. Honestly, the only complaint was that I had to go out and get my girlfriend a hairdryer which ended up being broken. Other than that we'd stay here again.
Awesome place, such great, friendly staff. Great atmosphere and also super safe. Amazing location. This is one of the best hostels I've ever stayed at including those in Europe. Chengdu is great, nice and chilled out and so is this hostel. Highly recommend the panda tour too. Major win on all fronts, couldn't recommend more!
Amazing hostel, first class at good price. It's fun and quiet. The staff is pretty helpful, girls are lovely. I didn't want to leave the common area. Just great!
one of the best hostels I ever stayed in...it s got everything you need... really
I had been in a lot of hostels around the world. And Flip Flop is the best!! the staff , Richard, Gaga, Sherry and Amelie are amazing! I recommend this hostel!
Great hostel. Fun atmosphere, great ensuite rooms with comfortable bed and nice decor, good food and drinks served, many available tour offerings, and very friendly and helpful staff, all of whom speak great English. Nice place to meet people and good location, close to subway. Would definitely stay here again!
This place is great. Very lively with lots of people to chat to. Our room was fantastic and we had a lot of help from the staff when needing to sort out transport and tours etc. We went on the panda day trip. Our driver/guide was awful. He showed us around the park but gave us all the impression he really didn't want to be there. He walked round with us with his head down low playing on his ipad/tablet. It almost put us off the tour ..but then we saw the pandas which made it all worth it.
Due to a change in management the hostel became in my opinion a little bit more like a hotel whereas the staff is still nice. Washing clothes was like xx RMB per kilo and the tour recommendation were the most expensive ones we were offered while informing - those are conditions you would not expect of a hostel... hopefully I could help you with some kind critics :-) Stick to your roots, your place is really nice!!!
I would like to say a big thankyou to gaga, sherry, Richard, Georgia,Antonio, Mary and carol, I also really enjoyed Georgia's walking tour :-) . The 4 days we stayed in total ( we were only going to stay a couple ) were very enjoyable and the staff went out of their way to be very helpful especially when we had to buy train tickets, and send a parcel back to England, on both times one of the staff came with us to help out. So thankyou from Tracey, Andy Alisha and Sebastian xx
We stayed in a double room ensuite. The room/bathroom was clean but when you kept the bathroom door closed it started smelling moldy. The stuff (victor and all the others) there is really excellent! They offer different events like hotpot and Majiang nights and also always participate! We had a lot of fun! They also book tours for you and help you with every question you have. They have also a pool & soccer table which are nice. The food was also good! We would come back!!!!
The staff at this hostel were the best I have ever met. It was so enjoyable to just hang out in the common area. If anyone thinks they are good at pool, give Mary a game! Georgia, thanks for showing us how to party Chengdu style. So much fun! Food at the hostel was delicious, and so were the tsing taos! I highly recommend the free bike tour taken by the owner around the city to some less known tourist attractions. Amazing place, thanks to you all.
Everyone was really friendly and helpful. Location is perfect. I would highly recommend taking both the free walking and bike tour if you have time.

Excellent hostel. Excellent staff. Excellent location...and a lift means that luggage doesn't need to be lugged up several flights of stairs. The visit to the world famous panda reserve is hightly recommended. If you only want to spend half a day there, take the hostel tour otherwise do your own thing. They do a good breakfast for a reasonable price. The Xmas eve party was fun. My only critique would be that the towels are too thin. Definitely, definitely recommended.
I enjoyed my stay here tremendously. Staff are helpful and informative and the facilities are more than sufficient for me. Keep up the good work. This is the 1st hostel i gave full mark too:)
Stayed 2 nights. Not enough really. The location was fantastic and the staff super helpful with any questions. They offered tours, but did not push them as we wanted to do things independently. Food and drinks weren't too expensive, even for European beers. Food and many other things are within a few minutes walk. Only downside, the beds were really hard, but who can complain about things like that even in hostels? We would definitely stay again!
This was by far the best of the 6 hostels we stayed at in China. The staff are welcoming from the moment you arrive, helpful, knowledgeable and go the extra mile to make a stay really special. Take the city bike tour organised by the hostel (free) as it is a great way to see the city and get your bearings. Hostel food is reasonably priced and of excellent quality - their recommendations for local eating are also good. The hostel organised visit to the Panda base is a definite must.
The thing what annoyed us was that not everybody of Staff was not up to date with the normal way of business. For example: They give you a paper which says "Next time you check in, you'll get a discount of 5 or 10 Yuan". So first of all, the discount is not fixed, they choose it on the moment + some people got it by changing rooms, we didn't. It's also strange to change rooms. We wanted to change and it was possible, while another couple couldn't half an hour before... Short: Organisation Sucks!
