Hi everybody, this is Mix, say hello from the Panda city Chengdu, welcome to visit my city and my hostel.
Just like you guys, travel is my favorite thing to do in my life, I've traveled a lot in and out China, the experience I gained from my travels became very helpful later in running my hostel as I can 'physically' understand what we travelers really need when we are on the road.
* I UNDERSTAND the price is a important factor for the travelers who spend years on road, so we provide the cheapest bed in downtown Chengdu among all the other hostels.
* I UNDERSTAND the location must be taken into consideration as we don't want to stay in middle of nowhere. Hostel is not only located in downtown center, but also 5 minutes walk to city's oldest and biggest temple 'Wenshu monastery' and its attached 'historical preserved area', the local restaurants (including vegetarian restaurants), tea houses, souvenirs stores can be easily found in back-street of this area.
* I UNDERSTAND the staff is crucial for a backpacker's hostel, this is the main reason that we abandon budget hotels which are usually 'cold' and 'unfriendly'. Our staff is trained to treat our guests not as business customer but friend.
* I UNDERSTAND the communal space is very important for backpackers, because to meet other travelers and to share the travel information are joyful and helpful things to do in a backpacker's place. Hostel not only provides many spaces for traveler's to chill out, but also serves cheap cold beers and other drinks all day long.
*I UNDERSTAND now all the backpackers use internet to keep in touch with their families and friends, and I also understand that more and more travelers are traveling with their laptop, so we have wifi also. Most of all, it's all 'FREE'!
* I UNDERSTAND backpackers are not normal tourists, we enjoy life more than just jumping from one place to another. Hostel therefore creates a family atmosphere with all the facilities such like 'dinning room', 'DVD room', 'Library', 'chill-out garden', 'games'. You'll feel more like staying in a family than a 'hostel'. Hostel's kitchen serves both western style breakfast and local food from 7:00-22:30.
* I UNDERSTAND in a big city but without metro system (good news, the first line of Chengdu's Metro will start next year, we are just close to one of the stations), to always get around with taxi would be out of our budget, so I located my hostel near city's major bus routes which means by taking public buses near hostel can take you to most of interesting places in town, and It's only 2 RMB!
* I UNDERSTAND in dorm room, we sometimes feel unsafe to leave our belongings, so we provide every bed a safe-box, you can use your own lock or rent a lock from reception.
* I UNDERSTAND the 24-hour hot-shower and No-curfew are convenient factors for backpackers, because we don't know when we would come back to hostel when we are having a wonderful night life in city.
* I UNDERSTAND because of the language barrier, foreign backpackers sometimes struggle in making travel plan in terms of booking tickets, making decision on where to go (China is too big...), getting permit to some restricted area etc, hostel set up an information-desk to help you solve those problems.
* I UNDERSTAND it will be always correct to think and consider all the things in backpacker's way...
