Characteristic building 5 minutes walk from the city centre. Kitchen with basic facilities. If niche with rubbish was cleaned up the large dorm it would be perfect. Good for a pleasasant stay and therefore recommended.

I thought the en suite rooms were good. I thought it was clean. I felt the owner was a little rude about us leaving bags in one of the rooms and he barged into the room unannounced saying it was inappropriate to make such a request as we had arrived early the day before. We had arrived early as this had been agreed with him. It wasn't pleasant that people were sleeping on the sofas in the 'reception' area

We stayed in one of the two person on suites, which were reasonable for the price paid. The staff generally were friendly, but a few niggles.

Noise travels easily and you can hear conversations from the kitchen in the dorm, it smells a bit strange, rather like an old pub, too many beds packed into a small room, kitchen is a bit old and run down looking. Staff were friendly and helpful and it is in a good location for the city centre

The single room I stayed in was too small to cost 30£ a night. Plus there were hairs left on the shower and also on the bed sheets, what made me think they were not changed.

Owner Comment (Show)
The room you stayed in is a fantastic room. The bathroom and bedroom has been totally refurbished only 3 months ago. The bed is almost a double bed and has a memory foam mattress. There are 4 pillows and brand new bed linen. There is also a 21 inch flat screen tv and dvd player in that room, wifi available in that room and on numerous occassions been used as a double by individuals on a budget who have thought it is brilliant as they could use their xbox !. On the day of your arrival that room was cleaned by our usual team of 2 individuals, and no less than 30minutes is spent on each room afterwhich I personally inspect every room ! The bedding is washed and dried using 2 commercial Miele machines that cost in excess of £3000. I can only think that this reply like so many others is witch craft. Using it on customer website reviews is grossly irresponsible and to be perfectly honest if guests wish to do such things which affect the hard work and honest business we have spent years trying to create then we would prefer that such individuals spend considerably more and go stay somewhere else!

Excellent location for our stay in Chester. Only slight downside was the size of the bathroom - really very small and the shower temperature was either very hot or barely warm. To be fair very minor points and I would definitely recomment this place as a great budget stop over if visiting Chester.
