Characteristic building 5 minutes walk from the city centre. Kitchen with basic facilities. If niche with rubbish was cleaned up the large dorm it would be perfect. Good for a pleasasant stay and therefore recommended.

I thought the en suite rooms were good. I thought it was clean. I felt the owner was a little rude about us leaving bags in one of the rooms and he barged into the room unannounced saying it was inappropriate to make such a request as we had arrived early the day before. We had arrived early as this had been agreed with him. It wasn't pleasant that people were sleeping on the sofas in the 'reception' area

We stayed in one of the two person on suites, which were reasonable for the price paid. The staff generally were friendly, but a few niggles.

The staff were warm and very helpful! The garden was very prety and the place was very close to town. Kudos to Saul and Alastair!

Noise travels easily and you can hear conversations from the kitchen in the dorm, it smells a bit strange, rather like an old pub, too many beds packed into a small room, kitchen is a bit old and run down looking. Staff were friendly and helpful and it is in a good location for the city centre

The single room I stayed in was too small to cost 30£ a night. Plus there were hairs left on the shower and also on the bed sheets, what made me think they were not changed.

Excellent location for our stay in Chester. Only slight downside was the size of the bathroom - really very small and the shower temperature was either very hot or barely warm. To be fair very minor points and I would definitely recomment this place as a great budget stop over if visiting Chester.
