There was a tuk-tuk driver to pick me up from the bus stop despite my really late booking. There were many tuk-tuk drivers around in the common area but didn't experience any harassing and the one who drove me around (think his name was seet/ sid) was a nice person. And like the other reviews mentioned, staff were rude. The dorm was really warm at night w/o aircon and could hear people walking along the corridor all the time. But if you are on a tight budget, this place is alright.

1) When I arrive, the staff had no idea about my reservation and my name and asked me to show my reservation number?! The guy spend half an hour looking for a proper bed for me and wanted me to sleep in a bed with the sheets have not been changed!! 2) In addition to the bad reception, the staff kept harassing me about taking their tuk tuk to visit the city. 3) Finally i got a bed in a 4 dorms bed, and there was only one key for 4 people!!!

We booked a double with shared bathroom, got a four-bedded room for ourselves. Room had a window and was just next to the balcony, very airy which is good:-)Excellent value.Shared bathroom is absolutely ok but there is just 1 for the entire floor. Wifi wouldnt work on the 3rd floor but worked slowly downstairs.Staff was very friendly and easygoing.Secured Parking for your motorcycle inside the building.Located very central. In total recommendable if you are on a tight budget!!

Quite horrible experience. Staff very poor and not very helpful. Also "sneaky-tuck-tuck-motto-driver's-flotilla" doesn't help the reputation. I've been on the road for almost over a year and honestly, so far the worst. Thanks for your help anyway!

I wouldn't worry about the negative comments about this hostel - it is fine for a cheap place in Asia, of course it's not immaculate and the service isn't 5 star, but it does the job and it's good value for money. Also, I only ever encountered a ONE tuk tuk driver waiting in the lobby, and he was hardly menacing (in contrast to numerous comments about the large number of annoying tuk tuk drivers that supposedly wait at the lobby).

Very cheap. You get what you pay for. Not bad.

Do not stay here. I felt unsafe here and random locals are scattered around the property on every level just lurking about. This feels like some kind of chinese prison institution. The lobby is also just full of tuk tuk drivers scouting for business. Stay anywhere but here. I had to change rooms (their issue with not being able to put me in same room for 2 nights) and they said they would move my bag. They didn't and didn't offer to help me move myself, just shrugged me away.

Hotel qui ressemble un peu a une prison, on se perd dans ses couloirs. et dire que les chambres n ont aucun charme est un euphemisme. Mais ce lieu a l'ambiance desastreuse est definitivement sauve par ses prix tres avantageux !

Chaya was in a great location. The staff is friendly, and there are a lot of tuk tuk drivers who hang out there if you need them. I don't think my sheets were changed from the last person who stayed, they were dirty, but the rooms were standard, not the cleanest, but ok. I would stay there again.

This is a very cheap hostel so you got what you pay for. Not very clean but all right if you are a backpacker. Our window looked onto a wall so check what is behind your curtain before unpacking. Staff was all right. You would not feel comfortable in the common area downstairs: not a great atmosphere.

Good location, cheap rooms, they will pick you up from the bus station for free (though it's a short walk too). Unfortunately you get when you pay or- there is only one shared key for the room, very cramped space, no lockers, and the staff forgot to change the bedding even with daily reminders. Also very aggressive tuk tuk mafia out front will "claim" you if you ride in their tuk tuk.

Free pick up from the bus, the tuk tuk driver was from the hotel and really helpful, showed me all around the city. Hotel is what you expect for the price you pay.

I guess the price explains the quality. The staff was rude, the room was tiny and stink so bad that it gave me a headache.

Great value for the money! Rooms are large and clean, and it was the cheapest place we stayed in multiple countries. One downside--there is internet, but it doesn't work inside the rooms. Also, it's set up more like a hotel, so if you're looking to meet people, this might not be the best place, but as far as a nice, cheap place to stay in Battambang, I would definitely recommend it.

Very cheap hotel so you get what you pay for. Rooms were average but a bit dirty. Only cold water in shower. My room wndow opened onto common corridor area so anyone could look in when the curtains were open. The bookings to Cambodia by bus are a bit suspect. We had to catch a 6:30 am bus then had to wait at the border for 3 and a half hours to get a connecting van. People at the border said that the Chhaya Hatel staff don't know about how things work and just take the cheapest option.

It's cheap, in a great location but with little character. Still, I was happy with my stay here. Great value, which is its only real advantage over other places.

When we arrived we were told they did not have room for us even though I had booked and paid a deposit. They finally found a room but tried to charge us more on check out.
