Had an excellent stay at the Getaway. It's in a great neighbourhood & I ended up spending most of my time exploring the neighbourhood. Very friendly and helpful staff plus great facilities. Would definitely return and recommend to my friends.

You guys have a great hostel, great place, great staff and everything. I loved the hostel, I wanted to live there. But it is too far away from the major touristic attractions! It took me and my friend from 1hr to 2hrs or more to get where we wanted by bus. I know what you say about having a true Chicago experience, and the neighborhood is really nice - but for those who are going to stay only a few days and want to see the places Chicago is famous for, it gets difficult.

Owner Comment (Show)
Greetings! Thanks for the great review. We're sorry that you experienced difficulty with directions. 1-2 hours to get places in the city via bus is way off- so next time allow us to help you get around. We're on three major train lines, and 5+ bus lines. It will be sure to change your experience. Cheers, Mat

Great place to stay in Chicago! A little far from O'Hare (about 1.5 hr by public transportation - EL) but it's in a beautiful, fun neighborhood. This place is nice, clean, huge, has everything you need, including fun & knowledgeable staff. Will definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends.

This is the best hostel I have been to. Staff is very nice and proffesional, instalation are really modern and clean, the neighborhood (Linconln Park) is one of the beutiest in Chicago, easy to get there by train or bus and well connected to good areas in the city. The only one point it must be improved is the wifi network-internet conection, it works, but its so slooooow and it ussually drops down, I just could check my email and anything else. Excellent job guys!

Chicago Getaway Hostel was very cool. I liked the staff, met nice guests, thought the facilities (Kitchen, common room, etc.) were very good. Also good public transport very near bye. I will stay there again. Sehr zu empfehlen! Freundlich, sauber, coole Leute, top Location in der nähe von Bus und Bahn Linien.

Very polite and accommodating staff. Quiet neighbourhood and within walking distance of Fullerton CTA red line. Spotlessly clean. Excellent value for money in a major US city. Noise levels from adjacent rooms and wash room doors banging an issue until I requested a room change. Hostel staff accommodated this without question. Issue resolved.

I really enjoyed staying at this Hostel, the only flaw I would say is the events. There was a dinner and none of the staff stayed there to host the event. they could be more involved. The rooms are really clean. Breakfast could have options of drinks besides coffee and tea. If you want juice or hot chocolate you have to pay for them. The staff is great at giving info about the area.
