A family owned business. Nothing to really complain about. I paid a little to much, but that was because I booked through the internet. I met some great people in the hostel and we spended the nights playing cards and having drinks. Don't buy your beers at the reception, they are expensive 2USD and not really fresh. There is a little and friendly mercado next to the hostel. It is not to far from the old center, but beware at night, the area is not the safest.

Thanks for the rating and comment. Unfortunately, all business are totally different : USD 1.40 for a beer in a grocery store ( take the bottle and go) or USD 2 for a beer in any hospitality place including all our facilities like music, glasses, chairs and tables, a pool table, satellite TV, good music, English speaking staff , etc. The truth, this point is not a highlight to be showed. Did you mean cold?? Well, we asked customers first if they like to have the beer in that temperature. It is not usual that someone come very early in the morning asking for a beer. Sorry!! Regarding the area, did you suffer a rob o something similar? What I know, you never suffered any rob So why do you say that?. If you are a fussy person is better to make a reservation in a more expensive place which is located in a "better" neighborhood but if your comment is based in how expensive is a beer in our place, I do not think that you would like to pay USD 100 per person per night in one of these expensive places. Sorry!!

Great location. Clean. Friendly staff. I would stay again. Not sure what the difference is for Deluxe room. Probably wouldn't pay the extra. Room was very basic.

Thanks for a good comment and good rating. The difference between these rooms are: -Single Deluxe room ensuite has Double bed, bigger private bathroom, bigger area, TV, WIFI signal, two towels, two body soap and it is located in the main building where the top terrace, kitchen, reception and lobby/bar are located as well. -Single Standard ensuite has a single bed, a small bathroom, a small area inside the room, not TV, not WIFI, one towel, one body soap and it is not located in the main building. So these are the differences my friend.

I originally booked for two days and ended up spending six. Staff was friendly and helpful, very clean throughout the hostal. Excellent breakfast at a great value served on a beautiful rooftop terrace. As some reviewers had mentioned previously in the reviews I read, the street rooms can be a little noisy, but for the price of the room and the other things the hostal offers you can't go wrong. I took advantage of the offered laundry service and it was good too. All I can say is I will go back!

Shared bathrooms should get soap, in my opinion. Are there any rooms with windows? I couldn't tell the difference between night and day from inside my room. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Overall, good value for the money, but if you have more money, get a better place.

Dear, Thanks for the comment. Of course, we have double rooms, twin rooms, triple rooms, quadruple rooms and single rooms with windows to the street and with besides rooms with windows to the corridor like the single room which you got it a few days ago. Exactly, what you said is right. If you paid more you get better service and better quality in the facilities. Even our hostel has different types of single rooms: USD 10 or USD 12 or USD 16 but you made a booking for the cheapest room in our hostel, sorry!!. I am agree with you if you have more money it is better to make a booking in a more expensive hostel or just make a reservation for one of our better and more expensive single rooms..... You gonna feel the difference

In the Chicago hostel you can only stay into the reception-room until 10pm. After it's close. The kitchen you can not use during the braekfast whitch ist exactly on 8.30 not later. The kitschen is on the top. It's a beautifoul view but open and could be wet and cold. The staffs give the informations whats necessairy but its not as kindly and open. It's clean, cheap an close to the city (old town).

Nice hostel with friendly staff unless of the guy who runs the travel agency at the hostel. He is uninterested and unfriendly.

Thanks for your comment and rating. My friend, if your comment is because the Galapagos tour I am sorry but we have opening hours like any other Travel agency. You can not come back to 6pm to try to make a tour to Galapagos with less than 24 hours to the departing day. It is almost impossible and it is worse if you did not have the money with you. How I told that day, please came back as soon as possible (around midday) to arrange your tour but my friend, you showed up at the hostel at 6pm and I am at the hostel everyday only until 4pm and it is not fair that you came back at 6pm that day trying to make a tour to Galapagos for the next day. Besides when I asked you for the money for the tour you never got the money with you, Sorry!! But I need the money for make any tour. One more thing, if I am unfriendly only for this situation, my friend, we are all wrong. The only things what we talked was about the tour and about an extra night. I almost forget, remember that I gave you an option to share a room with another guy thinking I was doing the right thing trying to help you saving some of your money, OMG. These things happen to me when I try to be a nice person. Never ever again!!

Good location close to the old town. Short cab ride (2-3 USD) to the nightlife. Suggestion: Get sunbeds on your roof-terrace ;-).

Owner Comment (Show)
Thanks for your excellent comment and good rating. I hope to get some sunbeds for the coming summer. Thanks for your suggestion.

Saludos.

great hostal in a relatively safe neighborhood in Quito. pretty view of old town from the roof terrace although there are a few not-so-attractive buildings blocking the view of the Basilica. the breakfast was great and worth the $. the rooms and bathrooms are more like a hotel, very clean. the lady working spoke very good English and was helpful with directions around the city. you will also get a key to the outside door so you don't have to ring a bell and have someone let you in late at night.

When we arrived at the hostel we were greeted very warmly. It was a plus that one of the owners spoke very good English. Breakfast was absolutely delicious but this is an additional cost. There was a beautiful rooftop terrace that had a beautiful view of the city where we would chat and have drinks with other guests. The only recommendation I'd make is to extend the wifi to all of the rooms because it just isn't fun watching a movie or skyping under the constant vigilance of the hostel owners.

Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately I think that your rating does not have the same value that your good words in your comment. Don´t be so fussy with a budget hostel. Regarding WIFI, it is not our target watching over to anybody; sorry but this is the only place where we can put our office, reception and common area. Besides, if you check out our bunch of rooms that we offer at H.W., you could realize that we offer a Superior room Ensuite with WIFI and DirecTV (international channels) where you could enjoy better your stay in our hostel. Please, we recommend you to read the hostel description and the information of every bedroom before making a reservation in any hostel, you could get good deals
