This hotel have strict rules, like check out at 11am, and you better not try to stay in the comunity area and use the wifi after that.

What is the strict rules? If you stayed in my hostel until 1pm in the day of your check-out using the WIFI. If this is a strict rule, do not you think that at 11 o´clock on the day of your check-out I have told you the wifi is over and you have to stop using the wifi and you know that this was not like that, I was waitinig until you finished your work but you never finished it soon. The Check -out is at 11 am and after this limit time if you want to continue using our service you must pay for this. So what do you think that you could use the WIFI for the rest of the afternoon?? Tell my Why I have to accept that?? if we sell services and the service have a limit time. We are not an expensive hostel where our prices include this kind of situations as: extended use of facilities after Check-out time, broken hostel things, 24 hours reception, free breakfast, 24 hours housekeeping, a good wifi speed, etc. We are really limited with these prices and besides offering private rooms with private bathroom where we can only accomodate 2 people per room so we can not support these extras things.

Chicago Hostel is nearby from CENTRO HISTORICO and the location is good to go everywhere in Quito. Quietly atmosphere! Staff is nice and help with directions and sugestions about places to know and how can you enjoy the city safely. The building has a beautiful place for having breakfast or preparing some food in the kitchen, enjoying a wonderful view! Good place for resting in Quito!

It's close to a lot of the Old City attractions, but there are no cafes and few restaurants in the area. The staff was very nice, especially the guy that serves breakfast. One of the best hostels in the area for sure, though the neighborhood isn't very nice and is noisy.

So this hostel is divided in two contiguous buildings that only have connection through the terraces or the street! The only place where there's internet is in the lobby which closes at 10pm, so if you wish to use internet later than that be sure to be sitting in the stairs in the building next door. Plus, my private "suite" was facing the street which meant that sleeping was a nightmare due to the continuous noise of people and cars. Not planning to come back.

I want to remember you this is budget hostel and it is not a 3 or 4 or 5 stars hostel/hotel. If you are kind of fussy, I recommend you for your next reservation make it in a more expensive place.

The staff at Chicago Hostal were very friendly and gracious. They let me borrow an alarm clock since mine didn't work very well. And also Ms. Tatiana Tamayos was very helpful in coordinating my tours and trips in Ecuador including city tours and surrounding areas near Quito, Amazon tour and the Galapagos Island cruise. They arranged all the taxi pick-ups during my stay at Chicago Hostal.

would be nice if luggage storage was alowed past 2pm the day of departure Sugestion!!! You could charge say 2.50 per bag and get extra business That would be good customer service What you are practicing doesn't make sense! Rediculous idea to get a room for extra night just to put your bag in it

Owner Comment (Show)
Dear Madam, After 8 years to run this hostel we realize that most of the guest are abusive and USD 2,50 is not enough amount to pay for all the included service that we offer in our business and the people who made the check-out wants to continue using without any payment. We do not have a place like a restaurant or similar, where people have to spend their money and as return customers can use the luggage storage service for free like other hostels or hotels do. The amount you paid for your room does not included extended use of facilities that is the reason why we offer a extended use of facilities only for USD8, 00 (per person and just until 10pm) and customer can use all the facilities in our hostel as WIFI, guest kitchen in the top terrace, internet in our PC, bathrooms, showers and get a rest in a bed. Some customers want to deposit their luggage in the storage place saying that they will come back only the moment that they going to pick up their luggage but the reality is other when the people come back around 5 or 6 pm because 2 or 3 hours is enough time to hanging around the city after you already knew it, customer don't have any where to go and they come to the hostel and want to continue using all the service until 10pm and sometime they are really abusive for example using our PC for hours and they don´t leave it free for use of other customers who are staying in our hostel or worse they use showers etc, etc…. On the day of your check-out Tatiana took the time to explain the same thing I'm writing in this space and in the most cordial because your husband proved to be a person with little education and low-tolerance. These attitudes are what seem to me ridiculous that adults have that kind of behavior. Also, I want to clarify that none of our web pages offer luggage storage service and also I want to clarify that at the time of check-in we explain to each customer that we don´t have extended use of facilities and the luggage storage service is only until 2pm. Finally, I feel very bad that some people use this medium to put everything negative about the hostels and not write what they liked. The person of this commentary was twice in our hostel, the first time she use this system and after her stay she did not write any comment and on her second stay she came without any booking what make me think that the hostel has pleased aspects which did not include in this comment. Customers have to be more objective and publish both good and bad because this is why this space is designed for.

The customer service at Chicago Hostel was exceptional. I left a bag of electronics and chargers in a taxi on the way to the airport, and they went out of their way to find my lost things and ship them to me. Most hostels would not help with something like this to simply avoid the trouble, but Hostel Chicago was happy to put in the extra time and effort to help someone who only stayed for one night.
