I was thrilled with the Chicago Hostel. The family owners were incredibly friendly, helpful, kind, considerate, and thoughtful. They each went way out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed or wanted. The room was immaculate and the figured sheets even matched the pastel paints of the room. The lobby was cozy with comfortable couches, a bigscreen tv, and convenient with inexpensive bottled drinks for sale and tour information. Breakfast on the roof terrace was nice. Terrific!!

We read a lot of negative comments but decided to stay here anyway. The room was clean and comfortable. The hostel is more like a hotel though. The communal lounge area was right in front of reception and didnt really feel welcome to socialize there. The kitchen is on the top floor and was fine, however the area gets wet when it rains so you can't socialize there either. If the top area was enclosed in with a couch etc it would be fantastic. All areas shut at 10-30 pm so off to bed it was.Not fun

Dear guest, A Lot of negative comments? If we have a rating of 84% to this date so it could be negative if we have a rating of 70% or less. Here are some of the comments and ratings: * Excellent hostel for a quiet and clean room. Nice common room and excellent staff. Best value for money in Quito (90% rating) * Great! Great! Great! Staff very helpful in all ways. Can't say enough about how much I enjoyed my trip to Equator and certainly my hostel experience added to enjoyment (93% rating) * Muy buena la atención y los desayunos 10 puntos! (96% rating) * Chicago Hostel is nearby from CENTRO HISTORICO and the location is good to go everywhere in Quito. Quietly atmosphere! Staff is nice and help with directions and sugestions about places to know and how can you enjoy the city safely. The building has a beautiful place for having breakfast or preparing some food in the kitchen, enjoying a wonderful view! Good place for resting in Quito! (96% rating) How you can see, a lot of comments or ratings are not negative, these are really good ones. In a coming future, the way how you will rate to any hostel will be changed. The option FUN will be eliminated so I think this is right because hostels are not a bar, pub, restaurant, a night club or something similar; we are a place clean and comfortable to get rest with all the services and facilities that you need to enjoy your stay in our cities and for the money that you paid you must be satisfied if you find a clean and comfortable place even when the hostel offer private rooms with private bathroom where you do not have to spend more money for fun.

This hotel have strict rules, like check out at 11am, and you better not try to stay in the comunity area and use the wifi after that.

What is the strict rules? If you stayed in my hostel until 1pm in the day of your check-out using the WIFI. If this is a strict rule, do not you think that at 11 o´clock on the day of your check-out I have told you the wifi is over and you have to stop using the wifi and you know that this was not like that, I was waitinig until you finished your work but you never finished it soon. The Check -out is at 11 am and after this limit time if you want to continue using our service you must pay for this. So what do you think that you could use the WIFI for the rest of the afternoon?? Tell my Why I have to accept that?? if we sell services and the service have a limit time. We are not an expensive hostel where our prices include this kind of situations as: extended use of facilities after Check-out time, broken hostel things, 24 hours reception, free breakfast, 24 hours housekeeping, a good wifi speed, etc. We are really limited with these prices and besides offering private rooms with private bathroom where we can only accomodate 2 people per room so we can not support these extras things.

For the most part I had a great time in Hostel Chicago. My room and bathroom were nice and clean and I had a great view of the Basilica. I got free breakfast, but that\'s ending soon. It was also really close to the Ecovia station, which was very convenient. The only issue that I had with it was that while I had internet the first few days, I didn\'t after the fourth day, and never got it again. They did have a communal computer, but you had to wait for other people, and it ran really slowly.

It's close to a lot of the Old City attractions, but there are no cafes and few restaurants in the area. The staff was very nice, especially the guy that serves breakfast. One of the best hostels in the area for sure, though the neighborhood isn't very nice and is noisy.
