Had a good time at this hostel, the staff are friendly and a great community of people centred around the hostel (if sometimes a little too friendly). Quiet place during the week, but weekends host parties - depends what you want! The area is very safe and a 10 minute walk to the beach!

The location of this hostel is great - it is in a favella, but it's safe & adds character. It's a quick walk to Copacabana. Across the street are super cheap burgers & the best acai we found. The hostel is clean and the staff are friendly, knowledgable, and speak English very well. My only criticism is that the showers don't get very warm, but there's an easy fix for that - drink a few caprinhas on the beach and then walk up the hill back to the hostel, and a cold shower will feel great!

Really nice hostel run by some lovely people. had a really good time. a good social hostel good to meet people and have a few drinkson the roof terrace. only downside is the walk up the hill into the favella to get to the front door, but its good exercise i suppose. would defo stay here again, great location for Leme beach and copacabana shops and bars etc. free internet was handy too.

despite there was no water in the place, due to water maintainance around the neighborhood it was a good stay after all. The mattress were stinking though in the bedroom!

In the Favela. Seemed safe and an interesting stay. A little bit run down in places but builds on the character. Weird people running around all night through our room. Proximity to Copacabana is good.

This place is just amazing, to clear it up, yes it is located in a Favela, and no there is nothing to be afraid of, we did come home 3 times 4 in the morning totally wasted and nothing happened to us, and on the other hand it is a true Ciudad de Deus experience to live, drink and eat together with Favela people. The hostel itself is just crazy, we didnt have the chance to meet the famous owner Andreas , but we did meet with HELMUTH, an East German sexy diamond who had been the most flexible host

This place is a pure party hostel. Do NOT go there with your family! The cleaness is under avarage and there is lots of people around which are not guests or staff. If you dont have high expectations on cleanness and you wanna have a good time partying it is a good pleace to be, if you are looking for a quiet place to relax look for another hostel.

The price is good, people were nice to us, but I really SHOULDN'T recommend : when I came my room wasnt ready, the kitchen wasn't clean, and there was two bathrooms near my rooms and they were TOTALLY DIRTY, both flushes weren't working.

Chill hostel is really good place to stay close to beaches. It's in a calm favella and guarded by policepatrols. I enjoyed my stay at chill hostel. The runner Andreas will give you good information what youneed to know. Stuff at hostel is friendly and kind. I really reckon chill hostel to you if you are looking for a good hostel close to copacabana. :) Thank you chill hostel's stuff! -Mange

This place was just a means to an end.. not very clean, only one bathroom in the 12-person room, and only one fan. It was impossible to sleep because it was too hot and humid, and also because the top-floor room has a huge adjacent terrace which is a social space/ hook-up area, where people smoke, drink, sing, chat and sleep. If you can't beat them, join them? Lousy wi-fi. No breakfast

when I stayed there it was carnival and packed. Andreas at reception was super helpful. Lockers in the room would be nice. Although it is in a better favela I didnt feel unsafe. There is a little climb up the hill but it is valued with a great view from the roof terrace

Good value, and an interesting place to stay but needs either less people or more cleaning (particularly during carnival)

literally a very chill hostel. people and atmos are top notch. walk up the hill is a bit of a pain but managable, plus motor taxi for 2 reals is nothing at all. right in a safe favela so close to really cheap food and bars. Andreis was really really helpful with everything. the facilities are good but the view is just breath taking.

Not a very "chill" hostel. This is a party hostel. The house is amazing, but the accommodations are a bit crowded and not properly cleaned. The neighborhood seems safe and all, but the inattentive staff is the main problem with Chill Hostel.

This hostel was fantastic. You may be skeptical about staying in a favela, but it is safe and has the most amazing view and culture you\'ll experience in Rio. The staff are not just staff - they become your friends, and even the locals are excited to show you the city. I give the Chill Hostel five stars.

The staff were friendly but unfortunately the main dorm was too open and even tho they had lockers stuff was still going missing. Wouldnt reccommend this hostel
