Staff is amazing! Nothing is to much trouble. Pippa especially made my stay awesome, she recommended a day trip to Litchfield, which was fantastic! Location: awesome, hart of CBD next to Coles, bars&restaurants/shops. Great semi- outdoor open kitchen. Showers could be better (not much pressure/ a bit cold) atmosphere: workers mainly, not super social. quiet at night (except weekends) great bar and swimming pool, in other shared hostel down the street (youth shack) Very safe&clean. Thanks! Sarah

there no proper social area, no smoking area. pretty big hostel, many rooms. not good for meeting new friend.

Air conditioner was very loud so not practical to actually use whilst sleeping. Everything else was fine, staff were good, room fine, cleanliness good.

I was in Chilli's Backpack and I think, that this Hostel ist good and clean. The people was friendly :) Staff at reception were happy to help and friendship!

Is this place a backpackers or workers accommodation?!? Hallways (& stairwells) are lined with work boots making the whole place stink & feel like a dive. At the very least they could install a boot rack somewhere to clean the place up.

This is a party hostel, not so much as Youth Shack, but close to it. There is no alcohol permitted on site, but there are still drunk people yelling in the hallways at night. A lot of people live there long-term, so the rooms are pretty cluttered and there are work boots littering the hallways; it smells pretty bad. You have to rent cookware and keep it in your room. The place is pretty clean and the staff are pretty nice, but I would probably stay at the YHA next time.

It is ok.

Extremely expensive, horrible atmosphere, stupid rules about smoking and drinking, poor and dirty facilities, internet (which costs 4$ per day) never works. p.s: ALL THE HOSTELS IN DARWIN are exactly the same for the same wicked price. Best advice in can give you is just avoid that city, there's nothing there but drunk muscleheads brawling and struggling aborigines treated worst than garbage by everyone. Never been in such a bad place.

we had an issue with the deposit There is a key deposit and also a cutlery deposit which I beleive was not returned they say it was Why have a deposit system anywhay Not every hostel does and it caused some problems The key deposit was eventually returned Staff thouigh were helpful but friends who also stayed in a mixed dorm had the problem of people doing things they should not

I stayed here in the private room because I didn't want to stay in the noisier hostels for my last night. The room was located on to the street with no real windows so I heard everything the whole night. I would have just stayed at the other hostel had I known. Price was reasonable at least. There are few facilities here. Deposits for cutlery is highly annoying. Surely not worth the annoyance to guests in return for the odd fork being stolen?

I'd like to thank you to the MANAGER who has understood my problem (85 old age and broken leg) and given me an empty room (nr 15). I'll remember your hospitality! Thanks! Mario

Typical Australian hostel - good thing - breakfast included, bad thing - annoying deposit for cutlery... Location great. Rooms - OK - depends who lives there - many long-stay backpackers. Big common area/kitchen.

This Hostel is to expensive for what you get for the money, the mens toilets were every time occupied and very dirty ! The stuff at the reception were really aimless ! And no BYO !!!! The good thing ist that the hostel is central in Darwin !!!

The place wasn't very clean. It is next to a disco and unless you're drinking and having a party the whole night yourself it's very load and annoying. The hostel has a kirchen, but the kitchen don't have dishes. You have to borrow the dishes from the reception and give them a 10 AUD depostit. Really strange, I haven't experienced that in a hostel.

I forgot some clothes in the hostel and they didn't even request when I asked them to send them to me. This hostel is pretty ok. The rooms are standard. When you want to cook you have to get all the cooking utensils from the reception to the first floor. The stuff can only show you the standard tours, they are not well informed about other things to do in Darwin and not motivated to help you at all. Better use your lonely planet. very disappointing first hostel experience! !!

A bit of a come down after hostels in Asia, the place could be great but it is over run with long termers working in town which affects the cleanliness and atmosphere. The dorm rooms are small so the little available space is inevitably taken up by teenage boy's cr@p who don't have mummy to clean up after them. Having said that the location is ideal and staff were great but surprised to be paying for internet access this day in age!

I just stayed in Chilli's for one night and I wouldn't expand my stay there. The rooms were really clean and everybody had an own locker. It smelled disgusting in the different floors because all shoes stood outside and that wasn't nice. Another negative point was that you always had to pay 10 $ or give your key to reception to get anything like pots and dishes. Nothing was already in the kitchen upstairs and you always had to go up and down after and before cooking what was a bit irritating.
