The location is fantastic; just off of path of Istiklal Caddesi (the big tourist street in Taksim). I thought it was a little pricey for the rooms provided, but being that I stayed there on New Years Eve (and Taksim is insane on NYE) I can't say whether or not that's always the case. Good place to meet people if you want to, but easy enough to have your own space if you want to do that as well. Overall a good experience, I'd probably stay here again.

i booked the place just for one night, but i got stuck here because i like it so much :) they are spending a lot of afford to make people comfordable. we didnt have the pleasure to meet the legendary ardam, but we had a nice X-mas dinner instead. it seems they had a difficult time with unreliable staff recently - but now they work very hard to improve the place again. there is also recycling, a water filter and you can rent a laptop for free.

Many people go on and on about hostel's being fun, but this hostel is worth it just because of the guy who owns it. He was so friendly and so helpful and so nice about everything. Any question we had he could answer or look up if he didn't know. He made great recommendations and unlike some other places where hostel people can be a bit weird, everyone at the hostel was really nice and normal. I would recommend Chillout to anyone who's in Istanbul. It's a great location with a great owner.

Ardem was truly amazing and this hostel has one of the most fun and creative vibes around. It felt more like a home and the decor reinforces the fun and relax atmostphere. Despite our short stay, Ardem manages to make sure all our needs are met and wasn't shy on engaging conversations with us and made us feel like he's a long time friend. The hostel has fun setup with loft levels and funky stairs into the rooms. Location is also prime being close to Istiklal Caddessi. Will stay here again!

The private rooms were moldy and the sheets were not especially clean.

I and my boyfriend order this hostel, but when we came we were told that we should go to another hostel and "Chillout Lya hostel" it is very strange for us. But Chillout Lya very good hostel for students. We live in Taksim centre and I think it is amazing, because we can see all famous Istanbul objects and walking in Taksim morning, evening and night.(We could see true Istanbul life) Finally I want to say that we have very good hostel boss. Thank you for free tea :)

My mate and I had a fantastic time at Cengo - it's in the very heart of all the action in Taksim, the party centre of Istanbul. If you're coming to Istanbul to go out & have a good time, this is the place to stay. The staff were fantastic - always happy & smiling! There's free wifi in the rooms, laundry service & was quite clean with the exception of a couple of tiny furry friends that we spotted occasionally, but that's Turkey; it happens!

I highly recommend the place! Great location – right in the heart of Istanbul, clustered with cool places and bars. It’s a great party starting point. It felt like home ‘cause of its laid back atmosphere :). The guys who run the place are nice, friendly and fun – hugs&kisses to u all :) I’ll definitely visit again :)

I loved staying in this hostel-the staff are really lovely and helped me a lot being my 1st time in Istanbul. They're a really cool bunch of people who work really hard to make sure a stay at Chillout Cengo is great for everyone. The vibe is really nice and friendly and when I got back to Istanbul I will stay there. Highly recommended, whether you're in a group or lone travelling (I was lone travelling).
