We were very happy with our stay at Chimbas. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The facilities are good and the whole place has much character and we particularly liked the courtyard garden.

Extremely clean, welcoming hostel. We stayed here for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's very quiet and definitely not a party hostel but that's what we were looking for in Mendoza. Staff were excellent and very helpful. Really enjoyed our stay and the showers and clean towels before our long bus journey after having checked out that morning were most welcome and appreciated! Kitchen is really clean and very well equipped too if you want to cook your own food. Good Internet too.

The common areas are quite nice (kitchen, patio, etc...), however, our room was extremely hot (no air-conditioning with glass entry skylight and a bathroom almost totally windowed). Additionally, we were both covered with bug bites; yet had to leave the window open! The room was also very noisy due to a busy street and neighboring freeway. So... although the room size was fantastic... we decided to shorten our 4 night stay to only 2 nights. We did not feel it was worth $48 USD a night.

Owner Comment (Show)
the maximum temperature in Mendoza in January usually reaches 32 o. That week, the maximum was 41 o (an abolute record!!). We offered this guest an extra fan and the chance to change room. The guest asked a room with air conditioning. But we do not offer rooms with air conditioning. To avoid mosquito bites we suggest our guests to use repellent. February is cooler. (maximum temperatures of 28 o)

The place and the people are excellent. You need to be aware that it is a fair walk to the centre of town, though. There is a bus. Overall, the walk is worth it for the quality of the place

Chimbas is an excellent hostel. It is a former family house with a wonderful backyard, really helpful staff and cosy rooms. The ambiance is peaceful and relaxing, and it is without doubt the cleanest hostel I have ever lived in! We had a great time relaxing by the pool and under the parasol between the plants in the patio. I recommend this hostel on the strongest!

Friendly and helpful staff but mosquitoes and lack of toilet paper could be improved. Also incorrectly advertised air conditioning. Beautiful home like hostel. We appreciated the coffee but not the lack of fruit for breakfast - more a complaint of Argentina than the hostel. Still- a comfortable stay, thank you.

We never ever have advertised air conditioning. Providing air conditioning would force us to raise rates to a price that our typical guests would not be willing to pay. But we can still affort toilet paper. Sometimes the roll After rain there are some mosquitos. We fumigate regurlarly, spray insecticide all the time and offer repelent to our guests. Such a weird complaints !!

We booked two nights and decided to stay for four because we liked it so much. Our room was very nice, with a small terrace and high ceilings, we loved the room. The owner and her son are very helpful, and accomodating. It was such a nice place to relax and enjoy Mendoza. The place is loaded with character, and everything you need in a hostel is there. We would recommend this hostel to everyone, and if we are ever back in Mendoza this is where we will be staying!

The hostel was... ok. If you are looking for a nice quite place to stay outside of the hubbub of the main centro, this was it. It would've been nice though for the hostel to initiate things in the evenings since there wasn't a lot around. That doesn't mean a party, more like playing truco or having mate. This way more people could interact with one another. Also, although the hostel had some information about doing things, it wasn't really promoted just kinda there.

It's a good hostel, the only downpoint is that the room I had was a little dated.

We had a fantastic stay here, the house is beautiful - lovely sunny garden and pool. We had a private room which was great, loads of space and very peaceful. Downsides - only one indoor bathroom meant we had to wait to shower occasionally, and the location is great for the bus station, but about a 15 minute walk into the centre or to a big supermarket. Claudio (the only staff member we met) was brilliant, very helpful and friendly, helped us with all of our needs!

Very beautiful and clean, however during our three night stay the toilet began leaking until the entire bathroom floor was full of water. There was no serious problem; literally all that was necessary was to tighten a loose connection. They fixed it promptly, however, and for us, it was almost a plus to see them respond so quickly to a complaint. Other than that, it is a beautiful, quiet place with food close, but downtown is far. Young, friendly staff.

The hostel was all in all really great: fully equipped kitchen, nice garden, wonderful building and very clean. However, the location is only good if you want to be close to the bus terminal, into the city center you need almost 1 hour. Anyway, we enjoyed our stay. :)

This hostel was just perfect. It was calm and had a lot of place to relax. Room was superclean and the bed so comfortable that we slept for hours and hours. Kitchen was good, there's free internet and breakfast is fine as well. It's a little far from the center, but close to the bus station. Better for couples or people who want to relax.

Chimbas was a good hostel to go and experience a quiet place away from the hustle and bustle. We liked our room (double with shared bathroom) although the mattress was terribly sunken and not so comfortable. The room was spacious and had a ceiling fan and big windows. I think that the biggest plus of the place is the beautiful kitchen and the backyard patio area. Two of the staff that we met were super nice and the other, 100% indifferent. Nice to have internet access and be close to bus.

We alredy replaced the mattress (It had a broken spring). We are so sorry for not checking it before and for any discomfort caused.

Great, colorful place with fantastic kitchen and homemade jams for breakfast (tomato jam was absolutely delicious). Close to the bus terminal but far from the center. The staff was very helpful. We arrived in the morning and we were offered a breakfast. We extended our time there and definitely would like to come back. Bunk bed was a little bit too low - you can't sit on the lower bed comfortable. The only bad thing is that you can't pay with credit card - cash only (EURO is acceptable).

Excellent hostel, it's not really central but you can catch buses (which are really cheap) there and back at practically any time of the day. Really enjoyed my stay here, so much so that I extended it for nearly 2 weeks!
