excellenat place for taking rest and nice staff!!! However, the shower room and toilet is not inside and you need to go outside. This is just a small problem.

Very good experience, received an upgrade to a better room which was a welcome surprise. Also very good tour of the Great Wall that the hostel arranged for me with a travel agency. Would definitely recommend.

Overall, I had a great time here. The staff was very welcoming and they helped set us up with a tour to the great wall. My only compliant was the bugs. I woke up to many ants covering my bed and my stuff and that was definitely annoying. Other than that, a great experience.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The hostel is ideally located near to a metro station so everywhere in the city is accessible. The staff were incredibly friendly and helped us with directions and information, The hostel itself is really nice, although the rooms are a bit basic. Also, a small but nice breakfast is included, Definitely recommended.

I stayed here just one night, but here is really nice hostel. There is a lovely family in the yard to run the hostel. Quite clean, I enjoyed a peaceful afternoon with the manager in the public room. I was invited to drink some Chinese teas by traditional way, and I like it so much. I am sure I will be back to this place when I visit Beijing again. Strongly recommend travelers to drink teas with the boss, and you will learn a lot about Chinese tea.

The staff was friendly and helpful, the location fantastic and the activities available great. It was a cute courtyard, with lots of decorations painted on the wall (loved the map with helpful hints.) The security of things that didn't fit into the lockers was a bit dependent on the social norm (nobody wants to be stolen from, so they don't steal from anyone else) but other than that, I highly recommend this hostel.

This place is a truly exceptional destination. Although really close to the city center, when sitting outside, you'll only hear the sound of birds, the neighbourhood, or the lively family that runs this hostel. There is enough room for privacy, and at the same time, plenty of occasions to talk to the owners who take a personal interest in introducing the very lively aspects of Chinese culture. I met some very fine travellers here too, from China or from abroad. Truly happy and inspiring place...

The staff over here was amazing! More than helpful and really nice, there is no problem if you want to leave some of your luggage and visit another city and then come back. they help whit activities and are really friendly. At first site the accommodation can feel a little bit torn but you will soon feel that they have created a great character at the Chinese Box. I would definitely stay there again if would be in the area.

Its a courtyard. In the winter it gets very cold. All rooms have direct courtyard acces = outside. If you want to go to the bathroom or toilet you need to go outside. (makes fun if its 5 degrees or even minus degrees). Security is pretty low. They gave me the wrong key for the locker and with that key I could open the locker from someone else (all belongs from him were inside). But they changed the key. Since it was all unaccaptable during winter time I moved to another place.

Lovely staff and hostel. Really helpful in booking tours, explaining how to get places. The area is really good for street and evening meals were delicious. A great place to meet people. Showers were a bit cold as in a seperate out building, but were very clean. Would definitley stay here again

Staffs are friendly. A manager of hostel is very kind and give you helpful tips for traveling around Beijing. The nearest subway is Xisi station which is on the subway line4 and takes less than 10 min walk from hostel. Also it is possible to walk to Ping'Anli station (line4 and line6) or Fuchengmen station (line2) if you are willing to walk little longer. The line6 is quite new line that is running between west and east. There is middle size supermarket 10 min walk or so from hostel.

Great tours, food and activities on offer with the hostel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Would reccomend to anyone staying in Beijing in the future. Thankfully they had heaters in the bedrooms as the winters are bitterly cold!
