The staff were excellent, friendly, and extremely helpful. They helped us to experience China. I really enjoyed getting to know them. The rooms were also clean and comfortable. The only problem was the showers were hard to figure out, I ended up taking a few cold showers.

Few are the occasions when I decide to leave a 100% rating. Chinese Box is full of character, hutong-located and run by an excellent staff. I got a free drink and dumplings upon arrival and met awesome people who were decisive to the great time I had in Beijing.

Staff is extremely nice, available, helpful. Rooms are clean and bathroom too. The place is quiet and well located. You may rent bikes ( a nice way to get around in Beijing). Very good value for money. I really recommend this place.

5 nights' stay. You get basically what you pay. no additional frills, quite a distance from the metro station. However, you may be assured good services and friendly hostel staff who will recommend the best things in Beijing. Cleanliness is excellent. Free activities are organised by the hostel which made it more homely. Definitely value-for-money. We would stay there again given the opportunity. 2 thumbs up!

One of the best hostel I ever stayed in. If you like the Hutong area and want to live in similar atmosphere, this hostel is for you. Everyone in staff spoke good English which is hard to find in China. Location is hard to find because its in typical small alley of Hutong. 5 minute walk from subway stop Xisi. Rooms were typical hostel size room and clean. Strongly recommended.

This is my first time staying at a hostel, and I must say I\'m very satisifed with my experience at Chinese Box Courtyard Hostel! The staff was very nice and always helpful! The beds are comfortable, and food and drinks was good and cheap as well. I met so many nice people, and with the common area, it\'s very easy to come in touch with others. The location is in a hutong, which is very nice, and is 3-4 mins away from the subway which is great! Would definitely recommend staying here!

Amazing!! Loved it, the staff was great very helpful with everything, if they didn't know the answer to your question they would go the extra mile to make sure you got the right answer. The location is pretty good is like 5 min away from the metro station, and the fact that is in a hutong alley just adds character to your stay. The activities were amazing and will definitely recommend you make sure that you are there for the dumpling party! By far the best hostel I be stayed at.

The hostel was a bit trickier to find than I thought, but aside from that, I thought it was lovely and had value for money. We had to make some last minute changes to our booking, & the receptionist was nice enough to accommodate us (even if it meant waking them up at 3 am!). They offer good recommendations for day tours around Beijing. Looks like the hostel attracts a good bunch of backpackers as well, as I met a few interesting travelers in the few minutes I spent around the common room.

I absolutely loved my stay at this hostel! It was so easy to meet other travelers and the dinners they had were one of the highlights of my trip in Beijing. It was also very easy to book my trip to the Great Wall there. It's located down a hutong (alleyway/narrow street with lots of small houses and shops), which could feel a tad dodgy to some, but I really enjoyed feeling a part of the neighborhood. Sadly, however, the cats were apparently moved to their other hostel.
