I really enjoyed my stay in Chinese box. The hostel is really near from the subway. The staff is very friendly and they try to help you as much as they can. The breakfast was free and they also have a free dumpling night. I will recomend this hostel to everyone

A very good hostel. The common area is huge and comfortable, but unfortunately there was nobody there during my stay. They offer a good breakfast and have arranged activities for people who stay. Comfortable dorm rooms and the location is ok, about a 10min walk from Line 4.

Fairly central hostel close to public transit, so it was easy to go just about anywhere. Liked that it was in a traditional building, but it's a bit cold in the winter. The fact that it's a vegetarian hostel rocks!

The location was excellent. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Nevertheless, the lighting in the room was too dim. Also, the bed was too high which made it a bit dangerous when we woke up in the middle of the night going to toilet. The wash basin in the bathroom was leaking.

They have their own special breakfast for free there!. An aunt cooks nice noodle for you~ And, just somewhat pity, they stopped their work at 11PM, so we can't get hot water for drink after that time then. Anyway, it is a good place, like home, and especially, if you like quiet, be better then.

The neibourhood was beautifull. We were very happy with the hostel, it felt like our own home.

The Chinese Box Courtyard Hostel assists travelers in many facets regarding information, drinks, food, etc but my main compliment goes to a young man who was of great assistance that provided an abundance of information which allowed us to see most major sites within Beijing within one day using the railway system. The only reason the hostel does not get a perfect score is that the hot water was limited to ~5 minutes.

Great atmosphere and very quiet residential area (we have been the only guests at the hostel at our stay - low season). Staff have been very nice. BUT:We asked for a Saftybox for our passports and got told to use the cupboard draw in the room-Which is not safe at all. You can choose between Noodles and Toast for Breakfast but Toast was only 3 dry slices with one jam - An additinal butter and egg would have been nice! The Noodles tasted great. The Bedroom carped looked dirty.General to expensive

The. Food available was very average, also there was no bar which was a bummer.. The room was big and clean but the water was not hot enough. The staff were lovely and it is a good location, close to metro and attractions.

We loved our stay at the Chinese Box after being recommended it by a tour guide in Russia. The staff were brilliant and it is dead easy to find using the metro system. It is perfect for vegetarians and the noodles for breakfast are sublime. The free dumpling party is a must, with a constant supply of amazing home made dumplings. We did the Jinshanling Great Wall tour and thought it was good value. The social areas could be cold in the winter but overall we were very happy!

Staff was really friendly and helpful, we must have visited in low season because it was quite and we saw few tourists in the city. Good facilities and the free breakfast was amazing. Will drop in again when next we are in Beijing. Greets!

A great place in the warm weather, but the common room and shower room are very cold in the Beijing winter (hence the average scores). Staff are very helpful and the Jinshanling Great Wall tour was good value.

Really cool hostel. The staff are amazingly helpful and have weekly events. They can organize tours (Great Wall). Great security. Nice common areas even though it was too cold to use them. Only downside is the location is a little ways from the train station. We had a little hard time finding the hostel, but I think thats because my friend wrote the wrong directions.

I liked it, nice hostel with a cute courtyard and near the metro station. Staff are also very nice and helpful and speak a good english. Thank you Leo and the rest for all your help!

Located in a nice, non touristic back alley. 5 min to the subway. We recommend the noodle soups on the other side of the Main Street (slightly left, tacked behind a little parking lot.)

A nice place in a sort of traditional hutong! Free dumpling night - nice staff / family. Brilliant trip advises: wall, Tibet, Beijing opera, Kung Fu ... A family place! Free towels

it's a nice place to stay for a few nights, with great staff and clean facilities. for taking a shower or going to the toilet you need to walk through the inner yard, so thats not so cool , especially when its cold outside. but i think this place must be great in summertime.
