The hostel is right next to the Shida night market, though a little difficult to find. Nikita is wonderful and extremely helpful. The place is clean and quite close to an MRT. If you are looking for a nice cozy place to stay, with a great host and silent atmosphere, I think this would be good. The only thing I think I missed was meeting other backpackers, but that was also perhaps due to my timing and short duration of stay, more than anything else. Recommended.

Absolutely fantastic place to stay. It is situated near lots of public transport- only a few stops down from Chiang - Kaishek Memorial Hall and there is a direct bus to the zoo and Nikita can arrange taxis to the airport at a discounted price. Everyone is delightful and eager to help - there are free maps and guidebooks hanging around if you are not sure where to go. Also there are free towels which is an unusual bonus. An amazing place to be - great atmosphere, good location, lovely people.

Place was very homely and the staff were incredibly helpful. Free internet with one computer for guests was useful, and it was all-round just a great place to stay. Just pretty relaxed and in a great location. It's nearby a wicked night market and a lot of very chic shops. Great neighbourhood vibe. Cons: Beds were pretty hard, but weren't uncomfortable. Depends on your preference. Some of my room mates said they didn't like them but they were alright for me since I like harder beds.

The location is perfect, a lot of different restaurants around. And it provides free towels and full kitchen and that's very good. The pillow made me so comfortable that I slept like a baby, and the area around was quite quiet at night. However, the bathroom was rather dirty and lack of facilities like shower curtain that made the floor wet very easily, and there's only two bathrooms with toilet for about 20 ppl. One more command is that the sign for the hostel can be made more obvious.

love the place, the word 'mattress' need to be re-defined though cause they're ...ehm... a bit hard, but that still wouldn't stop me from coming back!!!

The hostel is a bit hard to find, but luckily people helped me finding it. The female dorm is located right next to the common space/living room area, so it is still a bit noisy during the nights. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Martin is superb! Thanks for being so helpful, although I'm sad to learn that you were only there as a sit in, but it's great to meet u :) There r only two baths among 20++ ppl, there r nights where we waited for >2 hours to use the shower. Another thing, the hostel accommodated ppl sleeping in the living hall. im ok with that but some of them were annoyed when we switched on the light to use the WC/kitchen. It's not like I have a choice do i?

The location is very good. It is near the MRT and easy to find. The hostel is quite clean although I was bitten by a small insect. I was served by a temporary helper called Lewis. He is very nice, helpful and talkative. I got a memoriable experience for this trip. I will visit again for next time.

Martin was very friendly and helpful. However facilities might need a bit of improvement. Toilets are rather dirty, there were flying insects in the common area at night and the bed was rather uncomfortable. That said, the conditions are not that bad, it's just that I've seen much better hostels in Taiwan. Location is excellent though.

What a great hostel! Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The hostel is close to a metro station and very near to a bustling night market. The beds were very stiff, though. Only two bathrooms/showers, but this wasn't as much of a problem as I'd feared. Everything was free—towels, lockers, and wi-fi were all included with the nightly fee. Why can't other hostels be like that? There is a large fridge at everyone's disposal, along with a kitchen and a huge range of dishes and cups.

The place was great, really close to a night market, so if you feel hungry in the middle of the night, you can enjoy several options around... aslo is really close from the subway station, so you can move almost everywhere around.

It was a bit tricky to find, we got lost from the station, but it is a really nice hostel. The staff are very friendly, they provide clean towels. The whole place was clean, and they have pretty good facilities, and wireless internet. Very close to ShiDa night market and lots of restaurants. Location is excellent.

Had a great few days at Chocolate Box. Fabulous location. ShiDa night market just around the corner. Also quiet and away from the main road.

I had an excellent time staying at Chocolate Box Backpackers. Nikita, the manager, was very friendly and helpful, and full of tips about where to go and what to do. The location was excellent - near to MRT and night markets, and the hostel's atmosphere was very warm and friendly. The place was clean and had sufficient useful facilities/appliances, and the rooms were very clean.
