A nearly perfect hostel. I highly recommend this place.

I like the staff and the other travelers, but there were only 2 bathrooms and a lot of visitors so it can take a while for one to use the bathroom.

The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was great! It is very close to Guting MRT Exit 3 and the ShiDa night market so the location is perfect. The only downside is that there are only two bathrooms, but even with a full house that didn't cause much for problems.

Beautiful hostel with great staff. 8 bed dorm was a bit small (definitely worth paying the extra 50 for the 6 bed!) but it wasn't a big problem and really nice common areas made up for it! Will definitely stay there again if I'm back in Taipei.

A typical backpacker hostel: a bit cramped and cluttered but with a good social atmosphere and a warm vibe. The biggest negative: there are only 2 bathrooms shared by 20 people. The biggest positive: it's located in a terrifically vibrant area (near a major university) with lots of unique and quirky restaurants and shops, and it's within easy walking distance of a the very excellent Da'an Park. (Most importantly, the beds are comfy with thick mattresses.)

loved this hostel! one the best I've stayed in! feels like home, such a small family atmosphere. they have free laundry and space for cooking, plus free coffee and tea :) in a fantastic location next to lots of little cafe's and a night market. really close to the mrt station as well. was really clean and tidy the only downside was that there was only 2bathrooms so expect to queue in the mornings or enjoy a lie in at the weekends. during the week it was pretty quiet but the weekends were busier.

The staff were really nice and helpful. It may be a little bit confusing to get to the first time but once you know where it is the location is great. Right Nextel to the markets, metro and heaps of restaurants. Really quiet at night time Only problem I ha was there is only two bathrooms which was not so bad because I showered at night. Also one of the showers was really cold but I was told after you just need to leave it running for a really long time.

Ended up booking more nights due to the new year. Had a fun stay. Good small hostel, good location close to an MRT and a family mart plus a short walk to a night market. Good social atmosphere, yet a good sleep as well. Only downside is the only 2 toilets which have the showers inside so if there is lots of girls staying forget taking a piss for a while ;)

Chocolate Box Backpackers has everything you need for a nice, relaxing stay in Taipei. It is super close to two MRT stations (5 mins walk or less from GuTing station and Taipower Building station). It's secure and Nikita and her staff comes in to clean every day. Kitchen has everything you need to cook - although nobody does because ShiDa Night Market is a minute walk away. I met a lot of interesting people at the hostel and had a very memorable experience! Thank you Chocolate Box!

This was my second trip to Chocolate Box; I really love the cosy atmosphere, it feels like home being here! The free washing machine is awesome, and the living room is great to chill in. Short walk to Shida night market and the subway so easy to get everywhere. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

It is the only hostel asked me to pay for a deposit in Taiwan, I don't understand why they don't trust their guests. But anyway, the hostel itself is very nice, and the staff is friendly. I think this hostel used to be an apartment, it is not big, only three or four bedrooms, and a living room and kitchen. It is quite near to the Shida night market, many good food worthy to try.
