Neat and clean were the hostel premise with the staffs rendering there excellent service. My room was cleaned as often as my requisition.Complementary breakfast was truly helpful.Located in the center point of the city is an added advantage since I could reach to the MRT in few seconds and to other major locations as well.Very fair the room rent was.A trip not to be forgotten and a stay to be cherished with City Center Backpackers Hostel.

After reading the other users comments I was scared to book here, but the truth was diff, location is brilliant, staffs are friendly and it's really worth for what we are paying. It's located in the central area very near to the metro and around 200 clubs and pubs in just 5minutes walk. Staircase to the room is a disadvantage, but each floor has more than two toilets which makes more continent.Wifi is good in the reception area compared to the other flor. I will come back for sure nd recoment too

It's worth for what we pay and the location is just superb, I saved lot of money in traveling by using the metro in three minutes walk, hostel has most of the necessary requirements with a high speed wifi too. Me and my girl friend had an unforgettable time in this hostel. Staffs are friendly and the rooms are clean too. I will definitely recommend it to my friend and family. The reception works 24/7 which makes the party animals like us to get back to the room when ever we feel like :))

I called them regarding their postal code since I wanted to find out the location using google map. But they could not understand what is postal code! And when I was there, there was and old white man all the way talking nonsense. Their staff's English sucks and the facilities are all very old and dirty which look disgusting. Can you imagine I bring my guests there and they say, " How can Singapore's condition be so poor?"

I have stayed in many hostels and this was by FAR the worst. The bed was boxed into a tiny room, the door could not open fully it was so cramped. The staff were lazy, lounging around all day, I witnessed the toilet being cleaned by a bucked of cold water being thrown in. They expected you to not wear shoes yet the staff would smoke and leave ash and fag butts on the floor. This hostel should be reported to Health and Safety. Absolutely VILE.

The worse hostel I have ever been in my entire life! Everything is dirty, the bathroom, the room, even the sheets. The "deluxe" room is so small that there's just space for one bed and nothing else, it's diffult to get in the room because there is no enought space to open the door. The staff is rude and impolite, the reception doesn't work 24hrs, they don't speak english well, and you don't feel welcome there. In my opinion this hostel have no conditions to be open for guests, should be closed.

On arrival the reception area smelt, staff wernt friendly. The smell didn't leave it only got worse. The staff live and sleep in the reception area. The toilets/showers wernt cleaned at all. Really discusting. Building work next door every day which isn't the hostels fault but it's hard to chill out in the afternoon after a long day of walking around the city. Good location. And the cheapest we could find.

Actuallt this hostel has all necessary facilities - lockers, quite big rooms, free wi-fi, 2 desctops for guests, tv, laundry, fridge, free breakfast, free luggage storage. But it somehow ruined but staff, who in fact live there (4-5 guys), so they feel like at home and behave accordingly - little cleaness in bathroom (quite dirty to say the truth), listening music aloud with friends, occupying toilets and common space. Still OK for price.

If you just have to stay overnight, this will do. Just take your earplugs with you. This in not a bad hostel anyway, just quite a poorly managed. The staff is really ignorant and doesn't seem to care anything. Thus nothing seem to work and hostel feels really restless. Excellent located, though it does not replace lack in quality. Would find lost of hostel with better value for money in Singapore.

The rooms were stinky and walls are very thin. The toilets equipment were not unto mark (water leakage). The family room is on 4th floor with no lift / elevator and this is not mentioned in the website. So had to carry my 3 years child at least 2-3 times up and down. People smoke in no smoking zone. There are long term residents who talk and make noise till 2-3 am hence not able to sleep. One of the worst experience as my bag packers stay in last 7 years. The owner knows about this!

I booked a twin room. Unfortunately we got offered a double bed. We refused. We got offered a very small room with a bunk bed. The bed sheets looked used. The door could be broken up easily. There is no lift, so you have to take a lot of steep stairs. It was often loud during the night and early in the morning. People smoked on our non smoking floor. We were on the second floor. Maybe the first floor is better.

Great location and thats the only positive thing to say about this hostel. The room wasnt very clean but the bathroom was just really bad - hair all over the floor. You have to climb 4 floors to get to your room. Luckily, we were out all the time. For the same price I found a much better hostel in Singapore so I wouldnt recommend City Backpackers to anyone. PS Deluxe room is very, very basic.

The hostel was very dirty, they had not changed the sheets after the last person living there. The bathroom was used by about 20 people and after dirty.trying to point out that there was a used sanitary pad there, I was totallly ignored. Rooms were small, with bunkbeds. Wifi was good. The size of the rooms might be acceptable for Singapore, the cleanliness was not.

We booked our accommodation online. However when we got to city centre back packers, they told us they were full and that it had never been booked. Very disappointed with the service. We then had to walk around for 2 hours trying to find a room.
