OK place to stay for the price. Decent location hidden away in a hutong and clean enough. Lack of atmosphere though. There's three common areas. One outside so weather dependent, one inside but next to the rooms so no noise or smoking and a TV / PC / WiFi area where the drinks are. The TV area's the best place to hang out but the staff sit there all day watching soaps. Result is guests don't really have any place to chill and mingle so there's no atmosphere or backpacker interaction.

Friendly staff. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, but there was no central heating in the hotel, so we had to use air condition instead. Beijing in winter can be really cold, so I was expecting central heating! With temperatures around minus 8 Celsius, it was quite a chilly experience, and the air in the room felt stale. A Chinese guest approached the staff, asking for a heater, as her child had caught a cold from the air condition, and the staff quickly provided one electric heater.

Favorite hostel I've stayed at in Beijing! Authentic Hutong location, and makeup. Warm rooms, great facilities, and all rooms are situated in the Chinese "Siheyuan" (Courtyard) style which is the traditional arrangement for hutong living. You want an authentic Hutong experience, while being warm/comfortable and in one of the best locations in Beijing? I can't recommend this place enough! The only downturn is we had a few friends check out the place, and the staff wasn't so hot on that idea..
