I've stayed at Clarance Castle once 4 years ago, which is why I chose to stay here again on my recent visit to Toronto. The place has since expanded and been renovated and is a great, affordable option in downtown Toronto and walking distance from everywhere you would want to visit downtown. The staff are fabulous and the place has a great vibe and a warm feel to it. They also offer private rooms, which are separate to the dorm rooms.

Excellent staff Great location, and cute place. Only faults were that I had no locker in my room, and some dust ect under my bed.

Good place to stay. Has all the basic essentials and staff is quite great. Wifi only works in main lobby not in the rooms. Located beautifully near the CN tower as well as in the heart of downtown Toronto. No special activities, breakfast or amenities provided by the hostel.

Great location, had a beautiful bedroom, people at the reception were super helpful and funny, had the best smoked salmon sandwich ever at the cafe next to the hostel. Will recommend and come back.

The building itself wasn't bad but when we got to the hostel we were informed that the water in our building hadn't been working for the past 2 days. We weren't given any advance notice so we couldn't arrange to stay somewhere else. Water bottles should at least have been provided so that we could brush our teeth at night. The toilet was also clogged and didn't work for the duration of our stay. Might be an okay place to stay under different circumstances but our experience wasn't great.

I loved how close proximity the hotel is to many attractions such as Chinatown, the cinemas, Kengsington Market etc. Everywhere's kind of within walking distance!

Had a great stay. The only thing I might improve is options for security (private lockets). But in saying that, I don't remember even asking. Never really felt it was an issue, so I guess I forgot. Would be a good talking point upon check-in :)

cleaner than any place I've lived. Curtains around beds provided nice and cozy privacy.

I would absolutely recommend Clarence Castle to anyone traveling to Toronto. My friend and I decided on a whim to visit Toronto for New Year's Eve and booked this place last minute. It turned out that there weren't any availabilities, but since my hostelworld reservation went through for some reason, the staff made space for us anyway. The rooms are very comfortable, the showers are hot and great, and you can't beat the location, basically right on King St. with a short walk everywhere else.

Receptionist is a very handsome man with a great sense of humor and excellent customer service. The lobby is spectacular, but the rooms are mediocre. The bed linens were gross. We discovered a 1 foot in diameter black stain or residue on a comforter (I'd advise to bring bed linen). The toliet was inoperable a couple of times, but the receptionist is a handiman and fixed the problem immediately. Great experience overall though!

First experience in a hostel, and it was so great! It's clean and staff are receptive. The location is a major issue to consider, the hostel is located near main touristic points of Toronto.

This hostel is a Superbly situated row of town houses right in the heart of Toronto with a exceptional view of the CN Tower. It is run by a lovely family who work tirelessly to make sure customers are provided for, including the Wee Dog Lilly! The Hostel I believe has recently been renovated so everything is modern, stylish and accommodating as well as its always kept sparklingly clean. This hostel is excellent value for money with a superb clientele. I'd recommend this hostel to everyone!

Lovely row of townhouses being renovated- close to CN Tower and opposite park. We had a large ensuite room with TV. Older style but very comfortable. Free wifi in lobby. No breakfast but kitchen available.
