Great place, around a 300 Rupee tuk tuk to the city centre, or a 15 rupee bus ride. Staff helpful, clean rooms, hot water and wifi. Great place.

Just a really good hostel. A breath of fresh air after returning from the hectic life style of colombo streets.

The staff were super helpful giving me some tips for my itinerary and changing some money for me at a decent rate when I waited too long and the banks etc had closed. Hostel itself didn't really feel all that special but perfectly adequate.

Great hostel, clean and helpful and pleasant staff. No complaints but they really need to put a main lock on the rooms and not just the floor.

Clock Inn is one of the better budget accommodation places in Colombo. I liked the location and staff. The big picture was ok but this place needs a lot of tweaking. In the previous Owner comments he wanted to justify charging extra for little things. Those charges are mostly nominal so they won't break the bank, but I'd like to remind that USD15 for a dorm bed in a developing country is quite steep and one would assume that a blanket or a cup of tea would be included in the price.

Helpful and friendly staff. Very clean. Modern and new feeling. Good Internet. Nice communal area. In Colombo the clock in is some what of a haven! Down sides is no kitchen (but I believe that will be finnished soon) and the poor security. The dorms have no locks and neither does the street entry until very late at night. This accompanied by relatively small lockers means some one could effectively walk in straight off the street. If they sort this, the place is a winner.

We arrived a day befor we booked because the night train was about three hours early so it was bout four in the morning and we had no were else to go. So we turned up and explained to diago what happened and he let us sleep on the couch for a few hours until we could check in, the service and understanding was brilliant.

Well, it is not quite deserving of top marks in Atmosphere or Location, but I felt compelled to rate it as high as possible because it is beyond Excellent on so many other levels. They need to show other hostels how it is done. Clean, efficient, safe, secure, air conditioned, casual, bright and wired. A good restaurant nearby, and a quick walk to the water. Well done Clock Inn. Well done.

Excellent location, comfortable rooms and the most helpful staff I came across throughout my two week stay in Sri Lanka.

This hotel was centrally located in Colombo, which is not necessarily near many tourist sites. The owner was very friendly and helpful with ideas for travel around Sri Lanka. The hotel was very clean and nice, especially since Sri Lanka is only now gearing up for tourism. I had a couple of issues with my deposit and changing my reservation, all of which were generally resolved, although I think I was overcharged for the deposit on the second night's stay, which I cancelled appropriately.

Always looking to charge you for additional things (makes for a frustrating and unpleasant stay). They charge for tea, coffee, bag storage, overcharge for arranging taxis, changing dates, overcharge for using their printer! They also charge to get a sheet! They make you feel cheap for trying to argue any charges you feel are unfair. A group of girls had left groceries in the fridge and the hotels staff ate them and did not offer to replace them! The facilities are also quite dirty.

The hotel is located quite far from the center. Rooms are not locked but have lockers. Bathroom is clean, cleaner than the rooms. Price doesn't include bed linen...

Great hostel with clean, though somewhat sterile, facilities. Strong A/C in the rooms for those who like it and plenty of hot water, which you may not find elsewhere in Sri Lanka. The service is exceptionally friendly and in prime location for the bus station.

the addition of mirrors in the dorms and possibly a couple of chairs or stools would really help

The air conditioning was a welcome relief. Although the bathrooms were new they were not the most clean washrooms I have experienced in Sri Lanka. Overall I was very happy with the hostel but my experience was soured by the taxi they arranged for me at the end. They charged me 10,000 lkr more than the normal price for a taxi to arugam bay and I felt pretty taken advantage of. Otherwise they were very lovely there and I would staying there to any travelers (make sure you know how much taxis cost)

This was my second stay at the hostel and it was great. The hostel is all you need in Colombo at the best location, in fact it is the only decent hostel and especially compared to the YMCA dump. Hasan, the owner and Deen the receptionist are both great helps. It is a new hostel and the kitchen and TV room were just being completed and it is a nice arrangement. Tip: to and back from the Fort, just take the bus no. 100 for 15 Rupees, sure beats paying 400-700 for a tuk tuk!!! Enjoy...

$15 is not cheap for a dorm, having to pay extra for a blanket or top sheet is outrageous. The ac is good, the Internet is ok, the place is clean, staff helpful, and it's easy to get to Colombo, still overpriced though.
