Kitchen is too small, for that many people. You had hardly space for your food, the hostel would need more fridges and more places to sit . Bad kitchen facilities, balcony wasn't clean. There was nothing to put your stuff in the shower, except hanger.

Unfortunately when you book the large dormitory in any hostel, there is always a risk that, if it is full - it may be messy. This is not always the case - often the room is full of 16 people who take responsibility for their own mess and keep the room very tidy - and other times it may be that the room is half empty but looks worse than when full as all of the guests are messy. Our cleaners work very hard to keep the place clean but it is very hard for us to get some guests to keep themselves clean. It is very unfortunate that you had to experience mess during your stay at Cloud 9 but it is not anything out of the ordinary for any hostel around the world and it certainly is not the case that the staff did not care about the mess but hostel life is certainly not hotel life and guests are expected to take responsibility for themselves too.

I've stayed in a very large number of hostels over the last few years and while I understand that you get what you pay for $5 a night for this place would be asking too much. Rooms are tiny, stuffy and way too cramped. Lockers are stupidly placed under the bed so there is nowhere to put your backpack. If even 1 person has their backpack open you can't get out the door. Doors are all left open all night cos you can't breathe in the rooms otherwise which is rubbish for security.

There was no lift. The bedroom was absolutely minging! The carpet looked so filthy I didn't want to take off my shoes, the walls and skirting boards were covered in chalk like residue which my bag was covered in after leaning it against the wall. There were 2 skylights which were serving as the 'cooling' system complementing the small fan in the room. Could not sleep there and left after 3 hrs! Bathrooms were alright but located on the ground floor ?! No refund policy! Worst place i've been to!

There are only 16 steps in the entire building and for this most people do not need a lift. However if you had trouble carrying your bags, any one of our staff would have helped you. Most of the time, we offer to walk guests to their room anyway - as long as we are not busy at reception. We have many different types of room here at Cloud 9. We offer a variety of rooms to suit all types of needs and all types of budgets. You booked our absolute cheapest dorm and paid us $15 for it. This room is the most popular room in Brisbane as it is extremely cheap and we get many many people who queue here for a bed in that room every morning. There are two huge skylight windows in the room, along with a stand up fan and only 8 beds. If you would like to have air con and bathroom in your room, you can pay a few dollars extra per night - but if you want the cheapest you pay less for less facilities. You get what you pay for. The 'chalk like residue' is not dirt and is not in any way harmful to people or belongings, it was a new product that is anti insects that we were trial-ling in order to keep the rooms nice and clean and to prevent people bringing in any 'nasties' in their bags.

Facilities is not so good ep. for the bed. But it's value for the price and near the transition center which is good for transfer. Not far from the center.

the worst hostel i have ever stayed in.the room was disgusting.you could not see the floor, there was food all over the room that looked like it had been there for days, and it smelt as if every inch of the room had been sprayed with bottled armpit.i have been backpacking for the last 10months and i have stayed in far cheaper hostels than this that have been of a far better standard, what makes it worse is the staff were aware of the state of the room but did nothing to make the room livable

When you stayed in our large dorm, there was a group of 12 boys who had been in the room for many weeks and had been causing our cleaners trouble by leaving their room very untidy. The room was then and is now cleaned every day and once a week, we asked those particular guests to put all of their belongings on their beds so that we could go through the room, clean it thoroughly and throw away rubbish and clean plates etc but literally the next day it would be the same. We eventually split them all up and moved them to different rooms. It is very unfortunate that you had to experience that during your stay at Cloud 9 but it is not anything out of the ordinary for any hostel around the world and it certainly is not the case that the staff did not care about the mess but hostel life is certainly not hotel life and guests are expected to take responsibility for themselves too.

Be prepared to have a lot of 10pound changes. They will ask you keys deposits for everything, except for to go to the toilet( maybe instead of cloud 9, they should call the place deposit 9 or cloud deposit) after that, if you want to experience a life in a refugee camp, we'll sugest you to book on the horrible dorm in where you don't even have a windows. And for have a dinner don't expect to have a seat cause there,s only one table forall the hostel, they'll just tell you to go outside.

Unfortunately, we have to take deposits for blankets, keys and plate sets because otherwise people steal them, break them or leave them dirty in the kitchen and then we have nothing to offer the other guests. We always return the deposit as soon as the item has been returned to us. This is normal practice and is a way of ensuring that people take responsibility for themselves and belongings. We have a large number of dorms that are all priced according to their facilities. The room with no windows has proper ventilation, along with a fan and is cheaper than all others, lots of people are very happy to save the money by sleeping in this room. We also have plenty of rooms with windows/air con/private bathroom - it is your choice what you wish to pay for. You actually booked a large dorm and paid for a large dorm but we upgraded you to a 4 share dormitory with air con and private bathroom for no extra charge, which most people are usually very grateful for. We only have a small dining area because most guests prefer to sit on the roof deck (which also has cover for rainy days) and eat their dinner with the city view - no one would have told you to go and sit on the street - sitting on the roof is nicer for you than sitting inside!
