The staff here are absolutely fabulous and so helpful so helpful we decided we needed just one more night!! And just one small email and everything was sorted!! The location is brilliant in the middle of little India and only a small walk away from everything!! Would highly recommend!! Wish I was back there!!

Very friendly and helpfull staff. Excellent location. Clean and well organized facilities. Very quiet, good for relax, but lacks a common area and some "hostel spirit".

The location is very good even if it's a little hard to find because the entrance is very small and easy to miss. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Showers and toilets were fine. Wifi was poor. Cocoa mews certainly isn't a party hostel, so if thats what you're after, I'd look elsewhere. I had a good nights sleep. I heard stories of bed bugs, but neither me or my friend were bitten. In summary, nice and cheap (for Penang) for a quiet night.

This is a really nice Hostel, cheap and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful, ask them where to go to eat cheap food, they know everything. I really recommend this Hostel, even if we did not like Penang that much.

Stayed for two nights, first night I had one of the lower dorm beds and awoke with more than 200 Bed-Bug-Stitches, They´re still itching one week later, sucks! Also there´s no Staff around from 7 p.m.- 8 a.m.. You get free boiled tap water, that´s all, not even tea. Dorm Toilets are on a lower floor, Wifi was so slow, I had to go down to street level, sitting with the rats, using the pubic wifi, which was a lot faster. English people in the dorm partying all night and no staff to enforce law.

Good place to stay and I would send others to stay there. Would stay again. Would be good if they either got regular TV reception in the rooms as no stations operate or got DVDs that did not glitch for DVD players in room. Probably have to buy new DVDs.

Cocoa mews is a great place to stay in Georgetown. It is centrally located in Little India. The staff are some of the nicest people I have met in all of Malaysia. I just wish that there was a common room in the building, so that when you want to relax you aren't confined to your hostel bed. Will definitely be recommending this place to others! Thanks so much for all of your help and hospitality.

Cocoa Mews was great! Our room was nice, clean, and even came with some useful extra things like a coat rack and shelves to put our stuff on. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and even allowed us to store our bags in the office an extra night before our stay so we could take a short trip to Langkawi. The building is old and footsteps echo horribly even though there are signs everywhere reminding people to walk quietly. Be sure and bring earplugs if you fancy a solid night's sleep!

Really clean hostel, location at walking distance from the ferry and major tourist areas, staff was very helpfull explaining what to visit and where to eat (try the tandoori chicken at the restaurant at the corner). The dorm room was nice with AC, warm shower and lockers. Only negative was that the toilets were downstairs. The second night we stayed in a private room. The room was nice, but very small. I liked the hostel, but expensive for what you get (compared to other hostels in Georgetown)

Had a nice time, staff is a huge help to someone traveling thru Malysia. They don't have a common area to spare your time, but in contrast dorms have enough space to sit and talk to others.

1. BED BUGS- they were reported on my 1st night, staff said theyd 'fix' it by the next day, using this as a reason to deny refunding people trying to end their stay, this was a clear lie, as the bed bug problem continued. 2. several other times the staff would bluff or lie, even though they were generally friendly, dishonesty just really annoys me. 3. no common room-barely any facilities 4. laundry- its weird if the receptionist folds your underwear while talking to you

Really great hostel in little India, Georgetown. What really makes this place is the people that run it. Both Arthur and Howie are incredibly helpful, and Howie is just a gem of a person! Super energetic and gives you the best places to see and eat. So many great places to eat very nearby! Beds are ok, showers are adequate. Only downside is someone stole mine and a friends flip flops from the stairwell...who does that!?

this place was good. the main thing missing was a common area to hang out and meet people. however this was easily compensated for by Howie, who is the coolest hostel manager guy ever. he gives you local fruit to taste, recommends amazing restaurants and is just all around cool. -alex munro
