I have stayed in hostels worldwide and this had the be the worst. No lounge area so nowhere to relax or chill and the kitchen area was closed between 11am and 5pm.Our room for 4 was only 8x10(minus a 2x2'jut-out' wall with must have housed the boiler because it was unbearably hot. Staff were indifferent to anything other than their computer screen. Will definitely NOT be staying here again and would NOT recommend it. IGNORE THE WEBSITE PICTURES,THIS WAS NOT A FUN PLACE. When we arrived and put our luggage in the room there were some guys lying in the beds (we booked a female-room). The beds were cleaned when we moved in then but the room and the bathroom was not cleaned at all (trash on the floor, baskets not cleaned, dirty floor). Second floor (common room) was closed due of construction (from 7am to 5 pm) and so there was only the possibility to sit in the room during this time. Its a nice hostel, bathroom is small but in room and clean and its two blocks from the columbus circle, so where good locoation. they also have an elevator which is nice especially with luggage. I would stay there again. I had to cut my new york stay shortdue to an emergency, and the hostel kept almost all of my money for the entire original booking. So only book a few days at a time if you are not sure how long you are in town. Hostel clean comfortable, not warm though, had to get 4 extra blankets to keep warm at night. but excellent hostel I think. very Noise at night. unhappy the fact they are no longger large Lounge, wide space for dinning.. things is getting too comercial.. I am not happy the fact they take for granted previous experience was nice. I am Not Comming back!!! Works in the hostel. Impossible to use the kitchen for lunch. Works even during the week end, noise starting at 8AM ! will be surely pleasant after the worksWorks in the hostel.
