Nice hostel, stuff and location, slightly ruined by the many grumpy locals living permanently there.

We stayed in Comrade for 4 nights. The airport pick-up and location were the only good things. In 4 days we never had a warm shower, we tried in the morning, evening and at night. The 2-person bed was horrible; when my friend turned I got launched, which results in me sleeping on the floor for 3 nights. The air-conditioning made so much noise we had to sleep with ear plugs. They fixed it after 2 nights, but still.... The last night there was no light in the bathrooms. The WIFI did not work well.

No hot water supply in shower since ~ 4 pm ( in June). Many stranger residents, some of them seems to be a long term resident. Every morning you must see the basin was full of dirty/used eating utensils. No drinkable hot water ~9am cos used up and no one boil it . Dirty. A pair of used/dirty socks beside the rubbish bin in the pantry. Wifi supply was very poor, always unconnectable! Some reception was not very helpful and not nice enough. The hostel was on the 3rd floor, u have to get your heavy baggage walk

The bathroom/shower rooms were undergoing an overhaul when we were there, but work should be done by now, resulting in pristine bathroom facilities. The kitchen is fully stocked with a good fridge plus a freezer for your vodka. Towel service included is nice, as is the free wi-fi and good computer with internet connection for those of us without a wi-fi device. Staff is friendly and well-versed in what to do, location is central with easy access to the metro and a grocery store.

The hostel was in the midst of renovations, so it may have negatively impacted everything. Overall, the place is fine. There's a computer with internet, some games, the staff is nice enough. The location is very good. Close to the metro, and not far the Red Square. My biggest complaint would probably be that the staff was often not at the desk, which is a bit annoying when you want to ask them something. However, overall, it's a good place at a good price.

Hostel is located near the Red Square in an old building with large rooms and interior parking. In the same moment it is calm place, but located really close to everything. You have supermarket just downstairs, lots of restaurants and coffee places in 2 minutes walking range. Staff was helpful, rooms clean, there was a line for the bathrooms in the morning, but I imagine it was caused by the workers who stayed there, finishing hostel's brand new bathrooms. I recommend this hostel.

I returned to Comrade Hostel after two years and the place has got better and better! Though the renovation works are partly ongoing, the hostel has fantastic facilities, a large kitchen, a comfortable and sociable common area and comfortable beds. The location couldn't be better - two mins from Red Square, and Kitai-Gorod is definitely the best place in Moscow for bars and clubs. Will be going back to Comrade Hostel soon.

We stayed here for 2 nights. It was rather nice secure double private room. But there is no sound-absorption. Everything looks clean and new. Sometimes too much new (means not done) Staff not always friendly. There were many locals in the kitcen. I think there was staff's friends they have got not the most chipest tea fo free. I like it. it's a rather good location. but the area near hostel is very dark and looks unsafe. summary good place to stay in Moscow if your want cheap private room

I had an absolutely awesome time at this hostel. The location is perfect - close to many clubs, the metro and the Red Square. The nice kitchen and living room make you feel totally at home. You can also experience the true Russian hospitability, as some locals are living there for some time. That is like their temporary home, and it will become yours too :). The staff was the best of all, and made my jorney unforgetable.

I met a lot of nice people at this hostel and really appreciated the staff members. One in particular, Maria, went out of her way to make me comfortable. I got a little lost finding the hostel but once you realize that the alley way in which it resides is the RIGHT way, its so easy and so close to the metro!

We enjoyed a stay in the room for 2. The room is nice, the location not bad. Now, I am a little torn because my girlfriend and I were awaken at 4 am, but by one of the most beautiful voice I have ever heard, the one of the receptionnist. So we were upset at first, but I guess we did not feel that angry after all. By the way, first thought that cross my mind after entering the building (that we found after a 1/2h search) : "I don't like the odds of a drunk guy climbing those stairs", so beware!

Although it was the off season, so it was very quiet, the hostel was nice, clean, warm and in a great location. Undergoing some renovations at the moment - hopefully they'll get more showers and toilets because 3 isn't really enough. Really nice kitchen facilities, but some towels in the bathrooms and kitchen for drying your hands wouldn't go amiss.

They're were very few travellers and too many grumpy looking locals that were treating the place like they lived there (or maybe they did??). I have no idea what their deal was but they were bossing us around. First I thought it might be the owners but I think some of them slept in the dorms. Strange.. But the girl behind the desk was very friendly and the rooms clean and spacious. Good space, bad atmosphere.

Great Hostel if you want to just relax. Not much of a party scene, and it kinda caters to a slightly older crowd. It is in a GREAT location though, you're literally a straight and 5 minute walk from Red Square and the Kremlin. Very clean and security was good. Only have three bathrooms, so I did have to wait a little bit in the morning, but nothing more than 3-5 minutes. I would definitely stay here again.

The Hostel staff were super friendly and helpful. The hostel itself was very clean and a comfortable place to stay. The kitchen was clean and everything worked. There were tons of plates and cups and such, as well as lots of tea. Also, this is the first place I have ever seen a dryer in Russia, so that is a definite plus even though we didn't end up using it. The one downside I can think of is that there isn't much space to put luggage in the dorm rooms so it can get a bit crowded.
