Copacabana Wave Hostel Reviews

Dive of a hostel, constant bad smell hung in the air and some of the staff were beyond rude. It takes a lot to take the shine off of Rio but this place certainly gave it its best shot.

Nice location and ease access to the beach and supermarkets. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the city.

The girls that works there are really great, everything was good but part of the brazilians of the staff were always angry. The other thing I didn´t like, is that you can´t do anything after 12 pm in the common spaces....thats not the hostels spirit! Even more, there was a family with a baby....imagine!

bad smell in the all hostel, rooms very small, like a 30 cm of separetion from each bed...... excelente location, easy to find cheap and good food around the hostel... the hot girl of the staff (dont know the name)it is always in the gest computer

Staff was very friendly, but they were very disorganized. The hostel itself was very cramped and hot, with no atmosphere at all. We moved to a different hostel where we are paying the same price for a four person room with air conditioning as we were paying for a six person room with no air conditioning at Wave. I would not recommend Wave Hostel to anyone.

Very good hostel!

The rooms were small and way too hot. The kitchen was tiny & there was nowhere you could sit to eat or chill (no common room, just the lobby&the small terrace). The staff was, for some of them, very unfriendly and for all except one totally uncompetent. They never knew who was sleeping where and kept removing stuff from guests.1 night some guests woke everybody up coz they thought someone had stolen their stuff which was in fact moved to another room.The breakfast was served later than anounced.

if you looking for a good location with character and helpful staff, here is the right place for you... cleanliness is average in total, however you cant expect any better in Rio! strongly recommended BTW don't be shock if they ask you to pay half of the money in advance (during carnival time) it's quite normal in Brazil. Trust Barbara, she is amazing

We stayed for carnival, which was very expensive, but probably cheaper than it's competitors. They organized a free dinner for everyone the first night and the whole hostel traveled to a party together. The rooms were inredibly hot, so try and get an airconditioned one, if you can. Perfect location and good breakfast.

Try to book room with aircon - without - very hot, hard to sleep, even with powerful but noisy fans, good thing: breakfast longer than supposed to be (till 11 instead of 10). Kalina - thanks for your help :-)

The location of Wave hostel is excellent, in the middle point of Copacabana and Ipanama. one block from the Nossa Sephora Avenue, you can take bus to bus station,Sugar Loaf,Crist easily. Breakfast is normal like cheese,ham,juice,coffee and fruit. Shower is a bit simple and small to put your clothes,shampoo but still okay. Once you get into the hostel, feels soooo Rio, like it.

The hostel world site said there was a pool. We didn't find one during our stay. The transfer that we booked to the bus station never came and as we had to get a taxi we found out it was nearly half the price.

The only good thing I can think of about this hostel is its location. We stayed at a private room with bathroom, and the room was very dirty, there was at least a cockroach under the beds; the matresses were wet and the room stinked strongly of humidity; the cleanliness of the bathroom was extremely defficient as well, there were dead mosquitoes on the wall tiles. I even got a rash on my back!

Had a great time at this hostel and really enjoyed our stay. The staff were very warm and friendly and the facilities were very clean.
