NO STAFF During our stay for 2nights, we didn't see any staff. NO RECEPTION To enter the hostel, you need to call the owner 1hour before your arrival. However, the owner was busy eating, sohe just informed us security code to enter the hostel via email. NO HOSPITALITY We were told to put money into the locker. We followed. However the next day we were again told to pay! After we pointed out, he realized and apologized saying "there is so many asian guest that i cannot remember their names"
Jose Maria was quite nice and helpful. If you want a local neighborhood, with cheaper markets and cafes, this is a great place. The walk to the L1 metro station can get you downtown in no time.
The owner charged an additional tourist tax which isn't documented anywhere. The owner has ignored my requests for a receipt. There isn't anyone at the hostel to supervise people coming and going. Other guests were smoking drugs in the courtyard and the smell was coming straight into the window of our room. The showers have a 20second timer and then the water cuts off. There is no option for a private bathroom or a double bed. you have to pay 5euro to use the washing machine!
Yea it was awesome. The owner was all about making sure your stay was awesome and helping you to go see all the cool stuff around the city. The part of town is quiet and not in the main touristy part, but it's gorgeous and in a fun little part of Barcelona. Also, the red line takes you right into the main part of the city in 10 minutes and that is super close to the hostel. Also easy to get to from the airport. One of the better hostels I have stayed in!
