We left the hostel after an hour because it was very dirty and it smells bad.

absolutely loved this place! It's quite a steep (but totally walkable even with a 20 kilo backpack!) walk up a hill to get there but only takes about 10 mins and is COMPLETELY worth-it! The view is beautiful, garden looks onto the ocean and mountains, the whole place has a cozy, beach shack kind of feel to it, great kitchen, good hot showers, beds clean and owners are lovely! Felt so relaxed, met lovely people. Will be back! Thank you corrie croft bunkhouse!!

Nice location, friendly staff ( although rarely present ), didn't mind leaving the car and climbing the hill. Cleanliness much below standard: rubbish under bunk beds left by previous backpackers, greasy table not cleaned at all during our 3 day stay, dead and live insects everywhere, stinky rooms, bathrooms not cleaned. Possibly bed bugs too. If owners took care of it, it would be a perfect place to stay on Arran. Otherwise not worth 12 pounds.

The hostel was very badly taken care of. There was no hot water for a lot of the time, sometimes not even running water. The place was very unclean and there weren't any (not even basic) cleaning products available like washing up liquid in the shared kitchen. The owners were not present during our stay and it seemed the people who were looking after it in their absence didn't really care about the guests. I would under no circumstances sleep there again.

Thanks for your review. We are disappointed you left felling this way. Unfortunately we had commitments away from the hostel during your stay, which we did inform you of. We felt the staff we had left in charge were more than capable and sorry this wasn't the case. The water problem turned out to be a burst water main out with our control and something the staff were not prepared for. As far as we are aware you were not ask for payment and we had hoped this would have appeased the situation.

A proper review should list the good with the bad. Bad It is a very steep hill up to bunkhouse, However the owners are more than happy to give you a lift up and down in their 4x4. So that's that sorted! Good Clean, dry, warm, ample hot water, spacious and, very quiet. Would I go again?.....Yes of course! Planning to go back next year.

Lovely staff. Very cute dog. Gorgeous view from the top of the hill (although beware lazy people - you need to walk up the hill to get there!!) BBQ facilities were excellent and they lit a bonfire for us all to sit outside and chill. Lots of board games :-)(including Arran Monopoly) and two guitars. Decent sized kitchens and social area. The fridge could be bigger and the bathrooms could have better shelves to store your shampoo/clothes when taking a shower. All in all an awesome stay!!!

The hostel seemed to be close to the coast if you believe the pictures on the webpage, but it was 15 min steep walking up a street. It was said that the kitchen has everything you'd need, but there were just a few things... and it was not very clean. But for the price and only for one night it was quite ok.
