After deciding to stay from the reviews left this was very disappointing. Nobody was ever at reception, on my second night i was locked out of the building getting attacked by mozzies for an hour as the "night guard" would not wake up to continuous knocking, then the following morning was kicked out of my room for no reason other than they could get more money from a couple. I had already paid in advance for the room also. Terrible staff, terrible location, and not cheap!

The owner, his family and especially the grandfather were friendly. The location was within easy walking distance to Princess Rd and the Chinese fishing nets. My son and I enjoyed our three day stay there.

Benson and his family are great hosts. They all fill the place with character! Everyone was on hand to advise on where to find the best marsala dosas or whatever else you fancy and always gave useful objective advice on trips, transport etc. The accommodation is clean, comfortable and good value for money. It is further out of town, around a 15 minute walk, but i found it to be a sociable place and a great option.

I did not stay at Costa Gama. I was offered a room, upstairs, in a property next door to the main home stay, which was scruffy and not very clean. The main problem was that the place was not secure - no lock on the outside door and an insecure lock on the inside door, separating my female friend and me from the care taker, who told us he would be sleeping in the next room in a rolled up bed on the floor !! We did not feel safe in upstairs room, with caretaker in next room and no security.

We had a great stay at Costa Gama. We were three girls traveling together, sharing a double room. The location is nice- not in the center of the "tourist town", but in 5-10 minutes walking distance. Our room and living room was nicely furnished, everything was clean, and the security good. The family running the hostel were very friendly, helpful and cared a lot about making the best out of our stay there. We were even invited over for dinner to celebrate the hostels 5 year anniversary!

Very much depending on the room. The first time I was there I had an excellent room. The other night the room was very small and you could hear everything what was appening next door.
