Quite loud! The room was close to a very loud bar and train track.

Staff was a great introduction to the hospitality and charm of the Costa Rican people. This was a pretty good place to land for my first night in the country after a flight from the US. Just a short walk to the center of San Jose, past interesting museums and pretty parks. Hostel had a super pool, a good restaurant, and hammocks for loafing. Thumbs up.

+++ Very good hostel with swimming pool, garden, big kitchen, 6 computers! Good situation Very satisfied ! - - - Staff justdoing the job! Staff at the reception never smiling and not motivated! I had the feeling to disturb for any little information I asked. The girl is really beautiful but I prefer less beautiful and more smiling and more welcoming.

People are lying when they say this place is great. It has so much potential BUT the staff aren't helpful and not friendly, nothing seemed to work (internet, computers, lights in our room) and it was the dirtiest place I've ever stayed. There was dirt in our bed, the sheets had stains/holes. We only stayed one night, got up and left as soon as we could in the morning and NEVER went back. The filth would have been easier to tolerate if the staff were even remotely friendly.

This place is very noisy, especially as the commuter trains blast their horns right behind it and freight trains at random. The bar/restaurant is a convenient asset, but when it turns into a nightclub over the weekend, it becomes impossibly noisy for anyone who isn't a party animal. I spent a week here, and halfway through they moved me from a four-bed dorm that felt like a prison cell to a much roomier and sunnier 6-bed dorm with "For Internet Reservation Only." (?)

My weekday stay was fabulous, but as soon as the weekend hit the whole place got a little crazy. I enjoy a couple beers (read: MANY) on the weekends, but I find it incredibly disgusting when it's impossible to use the restrooms on Sunday afternoon because they are STILL covered in vomit and feces from guests who don't know how to control themselves.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. There's plenty of couches where you can hang out and meet other travelers. There are hammocks on which you can laze on. There's a pool and the hostel has its own bar. The front desk staff are very helpful. There's a tourism office where a guy books your tours for you. When I leave in the morning and when I return in the early evening, I always see some one cleaning in the hostel. I have nothing bad to say about this place.

Very friendly staff that helped us a lot finding bus connections, bank or supermarked. Also very nice of them to keep some of our luggage for free till we come back.

It's a great place for backpackers indeed. Of course don't expect much of the room, you will find the minimum. I liked the restaurant/bar, that serves great food at any time of the day and night.
