The place felt more like a hotel than a hostel. I felt very safe in the area. Staff was always helpful and friendly and available 24 hours. The rooms are simple but perfect for a place to stay. It was a bit noisy at night but that's expected in a big city. Wifi was on and off but that seems to be a trend I'm finding in Central America. Other than that I have no complaints and would definitely stay again!
Very comfortable place to stay. Helpful staff and good facilities, including all day coffee and a pretty outdoor terrace for smokers. Some good information available e.g. All the bus times and routes. Fairly convenient to the city and in a safe area so walking around OK..
This place was truly amazing. Don't let the outside fool you, it does look a little rundown, but once you enter it is beautiful. The staff was extremely helpful and welcoming.
Very helpful staff, they were extremely polite and helped us with a rafting tour and let us leave our luggage with them while we spent a few days on the coast.

This hostel is very comfortable and clean, rooms are huge for the price. Beds are very big, bathroom was nice. The staff is 24 hour and very pleasant and helpful. Only downfall is it is close to a rail and the tram honks often starting early in the morning, wifi is also spotty when you get to the room unless it is next to lobby. I would stay here again. Close to food and shopping,

great breakfast (scrambled eggs), secure building, HUGE bed and room for the double room, very friendly staff, cable tv in room (with english movie channels), wifi worked well. its a family-friendly place here so unfortunately for us that meant a screaming kid down the corridors in the mornings (just as annoying as a drunk latecomer at any hostel, i guess!!) a good mix for us travelling as a couple on a budget, would most definitely recommend.
Few mins walking to city centre, easy atmosphere, good stay at San Jose.
A clean (dark) room, with plenty of space. Huge bathroom with suicide shower. Very slow wifi in the common area only. Common area itself is bright with a small outside patio. If you stay downtown, this is one of the better areas. Google maps is wrong about the abandoned railway - it is very real and loud - think living near an airport flight path. Free breakfast is basic but welcome. Free coffee all day. No bar - maybe you could go to the backpackers on the opposite side of the street!
We stayed there 2 nights.Room is realy big and comfortable. free coffe and breakfast is awesome! You need to walk to main square but its not far.I recomend here and visit again.Arigatou.
