A place where it's really enjoyable to live! The staff is really nice and organise every evening something (an activity, a bbq) for the residents and with that, it's easy to meet people. There's always musique, who gives a great athmosphere. There is some spices, rice and pasta for free. It's those small things that give's crash palace a plus! We really enjoyed our stay there and wish we could stay longer! For the facilities, the bed a correct, clean sheets, bathroom+kitchen cleaned every day.
The hostel is reasonably clean. They have a towel in the showers but unless you are the first person they don't replace them. The staff doesn't know much about the city but do have ideas for things to see outside of it. It is pretty quite and not a party hostel even though there are a lot of young people. The TV room is great in the evenings. FYI: The desk doesn't open very early so if you have to check out early make sure you don't give them an ID that you need back.
A wonderfully clean, colorful, cozy place to stay. The staff were very friendly and clearly knew the area well. A great location, too, right near the Polynesian Spa and the Main Street. I wish we could have stayed longer!
We loved the hostel!!!! Full of nice touches like free condiments in their many kitchens that you could use to cook... Also they have a pool table and a free jacuzzi. Really easy to meet other travelers in the common room. It's only a 2 min walk from the spa as well as the main streets of town. They also organize activities for you. Some are even free like the pub crawl. We had a great time! P.s. If you stay in urban retreat in Taupo you can get a discount upon booking, and vice versa.
We didn't get the room that we'd booked so that's a big minus, not sure whose fault it was though. We did get a discount and some free wifi because of the mix up, The room we eventually got was average: clean, small beds, hot, lots of wall sockets, not very spacious. Kitchen was ok, not very big but was no problem for us. There was no lockers in the room and the luggage storage was a small unlocked shed in the courtyard, but I think they lock it at night. Location was good on a quiet street.
Hostelworld didn't send my booking to the hostel, so when I arrived there was no room for me, but Chris at the reception worked his magic and somehow I had the room I booked. Backyard terrace a great place to sit and chill out. Enjoyed my stay there very much. Thanks!
Best Hostel i've stayed at so far in New zealand
Great and friendly service. Nice young atmosphere, good music in the lounge. Centrally located. It offered many activities. Very good price. Free Wi-Fi. Small kitchen.
great stay, friendly staff and they offer lots of things to do. i wasn't aware the hostel was dry because they have their own bar which i didn't like. also they offer free wifi, i stayed for two nights and i only received a wifi voucher for one night which i felt was unfair.
No free wifi.
This may not look like a lot when you first arrive but it is a brilliant hostel. The staff are really friendly and always a good laugh. There is stuff to do in the hostel each evening like a wii night etc. The bed was really comfy and even though I am 6'5" the bed was very spacious and perfect for a good nights sleep. The showers were very clean and there are never any queues for them. Will definately be staying here again if I'm in Rotorua and will reccomend it to anyone wanting a cheap night!!
