Originally built as a luxury hotel in 1931 after the famous Hawke's Bay earthquake, the Criterion is a unique Spanish Mission/ Art Deco Style building located in the heart of Napier.

Would have liked a newer mattress but overall was impressed with the ambiance and uniqueness of the hotel. Heat was the perfect temperature. Loved the balcony. Showers and toilets very clean.
