I enjoyed my stay, even though it was only for one night. The lady/owner/manager(?) clearly makes a effort to show everyone around the property when you arrive and chats with folk. She made the place feel homely and made sure to contact her if there was any issues. Nice that there was a free pool table to play on. Great to sit on the balcony with breakfast in the morning. Downside was only one plug socket in room.

I stayed here just for the one night and it was a really friendly place. Only negative would probably be the stairs coming up (not great with suitcases, but an awesome guy helped me :)). The place has a lot of character and a big kitchen and lounge area and seemed to be a great mix of people staying!

Really cool art deco style hostel, awesome communal area with high ceilings. Wi-Fi strong, and big, clean kitchen. Right in the centre of town!

This place looks cool as soon as you get in, however for some reason the other guests were really unfriendly which made for a weird atmosphere. Room 16 is used as a thoroughfare for everyone in dorm 17, so it's basically a corridor with drunken fools crashing through the whole night. No security, no room to store food, intermittent wifi. The good: great location, comfy beds, friendly manager.

Due to a large number of bookings, I ended up staying in a makeshift single bedroom with 2 other people on a very noisy bunk bed which I had difficulty climbing on to as you had to climb over another bed to get to the ladder. However, EVERYTHING else was great! Lovely staff, free breakfast, free WiFi (though it was a bit hit and miss at times), fun décor to suit the feel of Napier!

Tiny room, uncomfortable bed and bathrooms not very clean. But great location, in the city center and close to bluff hill, the beach, the supermarkets and the aquarium. The lady at the reception was very nice. The common rooms are large, many sofas to sit and relax and the kitchen is well equiped. Moreover, they offer free breakfast for the same price than other hostels with just the room (29$).
