Lovely hostel. Free wifi is fast and an added bonus. Free breakfast was simple but good. Great facilities. The communal lounge, tvs etc all really nice. Rooms were simple but absolutely fine. Great location and really friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend this place.

Really nice art deco place with good facilities and very central. My wife and I had a very enjoyable stay with our own en suite room. I would definitely recommend the place.

Great setting for a hostel, and the owners are keeping it true to its art deco roots. Well equipped kitchen meaning you can be more ambitious than beans on toast if you like, dorm rooms andbathrooms certainly above the average!! The only negative during my stay would be that that 80-90% of the guests where from Germany, which in itself is no problem!! However, they tended to stick together in a large group meaning it wasn't perhaps the most sociable choice in town.

I liked the hostel a lot but probably wouldn't have stayed if I knew the bathrooms weren't private. I didn't feel very safe taking a shower. Neither the showers nor toilets were enclosed.

After all the games, still can't play pool. Had a lovely stay and met some amazing people.

Upon first arrival, there was a nasty urine smell in the main common room/ kitchen area. The manager was not pleasant, hearing the way he spoke to the staff was awful. We had to ask for a map and no information on supermarkets/restaurants in the area was provided. Also, no pamphlets on activities in the area were provided - we had to go to another hostel to get some! The kitchen was well equipped, but the place did not have any atmosphere. The bathrooms were clean and showers nice.

In general a very good stay with a mixture of age groups. However some people do not take responsibility for washing their dishes. Also sometimes the radio/tv was so loud you could hardly hear a conversation.

breakfast included

Room was smell of sweat. So bad. And breakfast's milk couldn't drink because it was no tasty.

There was a bit of a bad atmosphere in this hostel between some of the staff

Room was clean and comfortable.

Ok hostel and I met some nice people in my room, but they'd been there for two weeks (working) and they didn't think there was anything to do or anywhere to go out in Napier. I later heard that is totally false. Maybe the hostel could help people have more fun by promoting places to go out? Also, one morning everyone was woken at 7am by one of the staff (I think the owner?) yelling about firing someone right outside the rooms in the courtyard. Seemed pretty unprofessional. Fine other than that.

Right in the centre of Napier! Old art deco building and a former hotel. Rooms are spacious, all facilities are clean. Amazing atmosphere! Great view from the balcony on main street. Free breakfast and internet. Wooden bunk beds so comfy and not noisy. Super friendly staff and owner who has a very cute and kind dog. No problems to extend stay because staff is very felxible. I had a very good time in that lovely place!

Rooms were ok, not great though. A little cramped and rather dull feeling. Location was fantastic being right in the center of town, only seconds from shops and the beach. Staff were friendly and willing to help. Had to pay for Wi-Fi however... which is sad as it is 2014 already. Common area was of a good side, with plenty of tables, a pool table, and seats.

Very nice hostel, situated in an old Art Deco building, beautiful rooms, balcony, clean Kitchen and bathroom. Common rooms with pool table, bookshelfs, tv an games. Very friendly staff. Stayed for One night while travelling to taupo and would love to come back!

A very pretty hostel with clean rooms and a big kitchen. Good location. I'd recommend it!

Can't really complain about this place! Nice clean rooms, very friendly staff, and great location. Seemed a little cliquey but perhaps just the group who were in at the time and not to do with the hostel. Free breakfast was very welcome!! Would definitely stay again!

The kitchen was absolutely packed so I couldnt cook. The fridges where full too! No one was around when I checked out. The hallways were noisy at night. The breakfast consisted of two cereals just left on the side. Not a friendly vibe and too noisy and busy.

Great atmosphere and everybody got on with each other (despite the snoring bear in the bed below!). Great location too and easy to get to shops, beach and bike rental (go to Fish Bike just off beach).

Good breakfast, very clean, super nice staff
