the hostel would need at my opinion a renovation as its a bit too old. On the other hand it gives the hostel kind of an atmosphere. The rooms and toilets were although clean. Interesting mixture of people staying there. Computers work with a funny software which makes it difficult to save pictures. Internet prices pretty epxensive /2 Dollar for 20 Min/ but free wifi voucher with 50 MB is good.

Probably the wrong moment of the year, but this place was empty, half of the few people looked like regulars, the others just passing by. Security is probably not required, but lacked.. lockers quite unuseful. Not many people so probably they cut a little on cleaning, but it was average clean.

Had a great stay, the owner was great and friendly, let me keep my bags for free and still use all the facilties. Free internet was a great plus in a country where it\'s hard to come by. Excellent location. Would return.

Great hostel, Friendly staff, good showers, great kitchen. Rooms were of a decent size (I stayed in a 4 bed dorm) and they have a nice little balcony overlooking the street. I only stayed there for one night so i cant comment much further.

Tidy hostel located in central napier. Good value for money. Bring ear plugs though, as the hostel is located above a bar...

The rooms were nice, bright and clean. The only but is the kitchen, it was really dirty the days we stayed in the hostel.

Nice hostel in the center that still has the flair of the hotel it once was. It has a big common area, 50MB wifi are for free, and the free breakfast was the best free breakfast of my travel.

Overall a good stay. Nice art deco building and good kitchen and common areas. Many long termers make it harder to meet people and the manager could be a bit more cheery! Bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper as there was some noise from the bar below.

There was some young people sitting in the lounge area at night time(after 12pm), drinking wine and playing cards. Which is okay, but they were being sooooo loud! Yelling and screaming. And at least I was trying to sleep. I think they were some long time residents, helping out cleaning the rooms etc. So maybe you need some rules for all the residents...

Beautiful Spanish Mission interior, especially the common area. Very handy location, and is within the central city free wi-fi zone. Very thoughtful to have a fan in each room, especially in the summer heat. Free secure luggage storage room too. Cons: Saggy bed, should all be replaced. Thin walls, so light sleepers can get disturbed easily. Maybe I didn\'t see it, but there should be a bin for used tea towels because it\'s all strewn around by night time.

This was a good little hostel. It has a great central location and being in the art deco style it also fits into the character of the city. The staff were not particularly helpful but they weren't bad either. Good showers, the beds weren't the comfiest.
