This hostel was amazing, far better than the ratings suggest. It's like a quiet escape to the green, very relaxed, refreshing pool, with beach, supermarket and restaurants next door. The hostel's staff contributed to a good atmosphere in any way & went beyond doing their job. The dorms are spacious & open, with sufficient fans, very clean, the kitchen is well equipped. Many people try to stay a longer time (some weeks or even months) in the hostel. The only ATM in town is quite far away, though.

This hostel was NOT worth $20 per night. There are so many other hostels that are closer to town and better priced. There is no A/C, only 1 fan for the whole room. The rooms smelled of mold. "Breakfast" was toast. Towels are not included; you have to pay to rent them out. Also, they don't take credit cards so if you need to get cash, you have to walk all the way to the other side of town to get cash. There are many other hostels that provide the same things as this one for less money & closer.

Dear customer, we are so sorry you didn't enjoy our hotel, but, why didn't you mention anything to us, we would have gladly helped you out in any way possible. That been said we will explain why our dorms are worth $20 in the peak season. We have been operating in the area for over 11 years, being one of the first hostels in town. We provide spacious 4 or 8 bed dorms, with lockers, wifi and fans. We have a fully equipped kitchen with a huge fridge. Our breakfast consists of coffee and home made whole wheat bread, with butter and jam (maybe 1 or 2 other hostels in town offer a breakfast like this). We are one of the few hostels in town that has a sparkling swimming pool. Also a huge garden with hammocks and lounge chairs in our outdoor areas to hangout and enjoy the trees, monkeys, lizards, birds and other native animals. We have a free parking lot, if you decide to rent a car in Costa Rica. We keep our hotel clean and always painted and well maintained, for all our guests. We have dorms but we also have private rooms with AC and private bathrooms. We keep our service and maintenance at a very high standard to ensure that all our guests have a pleasant stay. We provide travelers a safe haven 2 minutes away from Santa Teresa beach in a prime location. With bars, restaurants, shops etc. at walking distance. We have staff that are eager to help with recommendations and a tour desk with free information to continue on to your next Costa Rican destination. Our website and other advertisement sites contain all the accurate information about our hotel, never misleading our clients. Of course there are cheaper and closer places to the bank in busy and noisy Playa Carmen. We would have gladly recommended a few places ourselves. But, keep in mind future travelers that it is a different town do not make the same mistake. Our Santa Teresa is unique!
