At night it's very cold in there and the hostel provides very thin blankets. I slept in 2 sweaters and was still cold. Hostel also doesn't provide hot water for tea/coffe (you have to rent an electrick cettle for 5 MYR for that). Food also was rather bad. In general it was the wprs hostel I've ever stayed (facility wise)
Most of the hostels near Mt. Kinabalu are super-overpriced, so this place was a good find. It's a 10-minute walk to the park entrance. The family running it seem nice and were quite friendly with me. It has free breakfasts and a great view of the surrounding valley. The dorm wasn't anything special and was actually pretty cold at night. The dorm bathroom and floor were fairly dirty, so be sure to wear slippers or something. A convenient, cheap place to sleep before and after the mountain.
Nice place, very near to KK park, helpful and friendly staff. Will come again
Very good location near the entrance of Kinabalu Park. I stayed in the dorm room/bunk beds where noise from the highway (trucks roaring nearly all night), others in the room with cell phones going off at all hours (recommend you bring ear plugs or noise cancelling headphones), and the provided blanket is usually not enough (rent the extra one for 5 Ringit). It is possible to lock the room but people are in and out all day.
