Staff were super friendly! Breakfast as great, and the location was perfect for hiking Mt. Kinabalu the next day. For the price, this place can't be beat!

We loved it at D'Villa because it's on a hillside with lots of trees and birds around and it isn't that far to walk to the Kinabalu National Park, only about 10 minutes. The rooms were good-sized with hot water and strong water pressure in the restroom. The floors are wood and shake a bit if people in other rooms are moving about. You can also hear people talking in the adjacent rooms but everyone goes to sleep early so it wasn't a problem. The beddings were fresh and clean.

I stayed in a dormitory with 6 bunk beds. That was at least 1 bunk bed to many. People or yourself will bump into beds crawling in and out. A good nights sleep here is impossible as the floor and beds are vibrating with every step taken by other guest and the mattresses "Hello Kitty" and that like for children are very thin and you will have a hard surface. The place may be OK for the lemmings (aka climbers) but if you need to relax a little a better choice is J Residence 80 RM for up to 3 pax

The D'Villa Lodge is a great place to stay if you plan on doing some trekking or climbing in Kinabalu National Park. The rooms are quite basic but the great staff and the view from their restaurant (which serves great food for a very reasonable price) make it worth the money. The actual prices for the beds are a little steep, but as far as I know this is pretty much the going rate in this area and the included breakfast is, if a bit on the small side, quite good.

Great location, great price. Food was very cheap & good. Close to walk to kinabalu park. Nice place to stay if climbing mt Kinabalu, great mountain views from room & nice & quiet at night. Also easy to get to from the KK or Sandakan bus route. I would stay here again & would recommend it to others. Very impressed.

great location if you are climbing Mt Kinabalu and don't want to stay on premises. Also, they had a wonderful store filled with all sorts of clothes and stuff for climbing!

As long as you don't set your expectations too high and recognise that this is budget accomodation then you should enjoy your stay here. It's a tricky walk to the entrance of Mt Kinabalu park beause there is no foot path, but it is manageable. We found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful, and helped us to flag down a bus to get to Poring Hot Springs, and again to travel onwards to Sandakan. The breakfast is decent, and overall we enjoyed our stay here :D Safe Travels :D

Accommodation in dorms is multi-bedded and basic, but great location just minutes from the park entrance, and a lovely open dining area with potted plants and flowers everywhere and a great view! Young kitchen staff is friendly, so good value for money.

It was HUGELY expensive for the quality of service. It's cold and damp and any one I spoke to couldn't wait to leave. The American breakfast came with cold beans on two occasions.
