The lodge is a bit old and the walling between rooms is not good cause you can hear all the sounds at the other room and its disturbing.. But location is okay its along the main road and breakfast is good...they got a filipino staff so it's a plus factor cause they can communicate in english well.

Very nice location, close to Kinabalu Park, great views from the windows, nice friendly staff. However it's definitely a budget place. It's a bit noisy because of the road. All the furniture, linen etc is oldish and worn. The place is ideal for backpackers and generally those who just need bed and breakfast and do not really care about comfort and looks.

We enjoyed staying here, espeically because of the friendly staff (special mention for the Filipino lady) who were very helpful in kitting us out for the mountain climb. There's some good views from the rooms, the food was reasonable, and it is about 500m walk to the park gate - probably the closest hotel outside the park. Would stay here again.

Zeer goede ligging tov het park. Gelegen aan zeer drukke baanSandakan - Kota Kinabalu. De kamer was versleten en uitgeleefd. Onvoldoende dekens en lakens.

The hostel gave a tiny blanket for my stay in a non-heated dorm room the night before I hiked up the mountain. I would ask that perhaps they provide better blankets or heat. The dorm room was also cramped with bunkbeds on top of each other and not much room to place your belongings.

We stayed at the hostel for 5 days in March and had a good time there. The good meals were cooked every time fresh. The simple equipment were came to like by a lot of plants and flowers around the hostel. Good view from the terrace. (Aa lot of "instructions" everywhere ...) We would like to return anytime! (our age: 34 ... 55)

The lodge was quite close to the Park and has a restaurant that serves good food for a reasonable price. Staff was helpful and locked up our stuff until check in. The rooms are very basic, and our dorm was pretty drafty. The blankets are quite thin, and weren't enough to keep warm with - I disliked that they charged an extra 5 MYR if you wanted another blanket. If you just need a place to stay to sleep for a night or 2 while you climb, its a good place - just bring a sleeping bag! :)

Staff were super friendly! Breakfast as great, and the location was perfect for hiking Mt. Kinabalu the next day. For the price, this place can't be beat!

We loved it at D'Villa because it's on a hillside with lots of trees and birds around and it isn't that far to walk to the Kinabalu National Park, only about 10 minutes. The rooms were good-sized with hot water and strong water pressure in the restroom. The floors are wood and shake a bit if people in other rooms are moving about. You can also hear people talking in the adjacent rooms but everyone goes to sleep early so it wasn't a problem. The beddings were fresh and clean.

I stayed in a dormitory with 6 bunk beds. That was at least 1 bunk bed to many. People or yourself will bump into beds crawling in and out. A good nights sleep here is impossible as the floor and beds are vibrating with every step taken by other guest and the mattresses "Hello Kitty" and that like for children are very thin and you will have a hard surface. The place may be OK for the lemmings (aka climbers) but if you need to relax a little a better choice is J Residence 80 RM for up to 3 pax

The D'Villa Lodge is a great place to stay if you plan on doing some trekking or climbing in Kinabalu National Park. The rooms are quite basic but the great staff and the view from their restaurant (which serves great food for a very reasonable price) make it worth the money. The actual prices for the beds are a little steep, but as far as I know this is pretty much the going rate in this area and the included breakfast is, if a bit on the small side, quite good.

Great location, great price. Food was very cheap & good. Close to walk to kinabalu park. Nice place to stay if climbing mt Kinabalu, great mountain views from room & nice & quiet at night. Also easy to get to from the KK or Sandakan bus route. I would stay here again & would recommend it to others. Very impressed.

Staff was nice, and it was excellent with the possibility to buy more warm clothes here before climbing the mountain. Nice and close to the national park. A bit difficult to get away from the park though, unless you're willing to pay for a cap all the way to KK, or have someone pick you up.
